Horan & Bird Solar

Horan and Bird (H&B) installed a solar/battery system in our home late October. We are a household of 4 adults and two children and it has been a very pleasing and happy experience for everyone. We went with H&B as they installed our first solar panels over 10 years ago. H&B did a great job back then and likewise, our new solar/battery installation was also a great job. We had constant communications with H&B at all stages of the project from initial enquiry from me to after commissioning of the system. H&B were happy to answer any questions I had. The on-site visit and discussions informed me what to expect. A second visit by the installer confirmed the final details, install date and timeframe. The written quote I received documented every aspect of the installation with a breakdown of costs. The install team arrived as promised. They installed the solar panels on the first day. They returned on the second day to construct the 'power wall' and installed the Hinen inverter and 5 Hinen batteries. On their third visit they wired everything up and connected to our switch board. The system was commissioned and tested. I received some operating instructions. During the entire installation period it was not a problem for me to ask the installers questions or explanations. The guys were very open and friendly while efficiently and professionally doing their work. Since the H&B installed our Hinen solar/battery system we have not had to pay a single power bill. In fact we are in credit!! Through the phone app and the inverter display I watch what happens each day. On most days, even cloudy days I can watch the solar panels run the house, charge the batteries and best of all see power being fed back into the grid. Even when we run 3 X ACs on the hot sunny days, we are not buying grid power. We have had one blackout since the system was installed. The inverter kicked in automatically and we were not aware the power had gone out until we noticed the oven clock was off. We continued to run on batteries, being mindful of what appliances were in use, until the power returned 4 hours later. All our lights, ceiling fans, internet and fridges continued to run during the outage. How great is that? I consider the purchase of our Hinen solar/battery system to be the best investment I have made. I am really happy. Bill in Oak Valley.

Our system is 22 x 440w Risen Panels at 9.68kw, Hinen 5kw smart inverter and 3 x Hinen 5kw batteries stacked together (15kw of batteries is a game changer especially with the rebates ~4k cash back). Horan & Bird installed our 10kw panels in 2023 and these have performed as described in a no pressure consultation. Minimal costs from Ergon since then. Took advantage of 2025 battery subsidy and paid near half price quoted for 30kw storage. Install was on time, efficient and neat. Happy with results. Too early to say on how Ergon account looks but expecting credit! Update - January was wet and cloudy but Ergon power was still only $2.50. Very good!
