I was in a huge pickle and was recommended by my neighbour to Darren at Randwick Locksmiths. Late on a Sunday afternoon he answered straight away, was able to quote me a clear and reasonable price and took just 15 minutes to get to my door. He’s clearly very experienced, very quick and extremely friendly and professional. I cannot recommend him highly enough. In addition, I suggest being particularly wary when googling ‘Randwick locksmiths’ to make sure you find that is the business name, as opposed to the Google description, because there are some other businesses that appear first in the search that I have used in the past that are extremely untrustworthy and inexperienced, to the point of damaging the lock while attempting to break in, overcharging and taking advantage of the customer. Thank you Darren! You’re a legend!

Accidentally locked ourselves out and called a bunch of locksmiths who all quoted $200+ for an emergency lockout. Darren quoted $120 right away and showed up within 15 minutes. The lock ended up being trickier than expected, but he still got us back inside quickly and stuck to the same price. Super friendly and genuine guy! We were locked out with a baby and when I went in to put the baby down, he even offered to help carry things inside and put a door stopper so I wouldn’t accidentally lock myself out again. Such a thoughtful touch and what a legend! Saving his details and will 100% call him again if we ever get stuck. Quick, honest, and no BS service. --- Would you like me to make it sound slightly more casual (like a Google review written on the spot) or a bit more polished (like for Yelp or a business website)?

Very fast and professional service! They were responsive to my call out, and great price for an emergency lockout. Thank you!

Fast, efficient, very well priced and Darren was so helpful and personable. I realised I hadn’t changed a dead lock and he came out within the hour. Can definitely recommend. Jacqui W

Frequently asked questions

How much do locksmiths typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the job — a simple key cut or rekey is usually much less than emergency entry or full hardware replacement. This page shows live pricing for local providers to help you compare options. Many locksmiths charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate and materials, and after-hours or emergency work generally attracts higher rates.
Do locksmiths charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials and may apply even for quick or small jobs. It's worth confirming any call-out or minimum charge when getting quotes.
Do locksmiths need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Locksmithing is a licensed occupation across Australia, and in NSW licences are issued by the NSW Police Force — Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED). You should expect a provider to display a valid state security licence number and to hold industry credentials such as MLAA, LGA or ASIAL membership, a Certificate III in Locksmithing, an ABN with GST registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
Does Randwick Locksmiths have a verified ABN?
Yes. Randwick Locksmiths has completed ABN verification on SureQuote.
