Why 3

Three quotes gives you a real choice without a phone that won't stop ringing. Once 3 tradies have taken your job, we stop offering it to anyone else.

When it's fewer

How many tradies take a job depends on the type of work, your area and how busy local tradies are that week. Your job keeps being offered to tradies for 14 days after you send it, or until 3 have taken it. If you have the quotes you need sooner, you can close the job from your account.

See who has your job

Open Hire in your account and open the job. It shows Finding tradies while we offer it, then how many tradies are matched and the names of their businesses.

What happens next

1. We email you your estimate. Select See your job in the email and sign in to see your job.
2. Local tradies who do that work see the job details, your suburb and any photos.
3. Up to 3 take it and contact you by phone, text or email, or in Messages.

Follow your job

See who has taken it in Hire. No new tradies can take it once 3 have taken it, or 14 days after you sent it. Choose Close job to stop it sooner.

After you hire

1. In Hire, select I hired a tradie and pick who.
2. When the work is done, select Job done to save it in your Home Logbook.

Quick things to check

1. Open Jobs and open your job. It shows any businesses that have taken it.
2. Look for missed calls, voicemails and texts from numbers you don't know. Tradies often call from a work mobile.
3. Check your inbox and junk folder for emails from tradies.
4. Check Messages in your SureQuote account.
5. Find the estimate email we sent you and check the email and phone number are right. If either is wrong, let us know and we'll fix it so tradies can reach you.

Why it can take a little time

Tradies take the jobs that fit their skills and their calendar, and some types of work have fewer local tradies. A busy week can mean a slower start, but it doesn't mean your job has been missed.

Things that help

• Add photos. A clear photo or two helps a tradie say yes. Read can I add photos to my job.
• Ask a business directly. Find tradies for your trade and area on our trades page and ask one for a quote from their profile. Read can I get a quote from a specific tradie.

Email [email protected] with your name, your suburb and the job. We're around Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm AEST, and usually reply within one business day.

2. Select Continue once they've uploaded.

After you've sent your job

1. Open Hire and open the job.
2. Add photos in the Photos section. You can delete a photo there too.

Photos that help most

• One wide shot of the whole area.
• A few close-ups of the part that needs work.
• Good light.

Leave out people, number plates and anything with personal details on it.

Details tradies need

• What you can see: the problem, the damage or the area that needs work.
• When it started, and whether it's getting worse.
• Access: stairs, a steep block, a locked gate, pets or tricky parking.
• When you'd like the work done.
• Anything you've already tried.

Remembered something later?

Add photos to the job in Hire any time. Tell the tradies who take your job about anything else when they get in touch.

Contact the tradie

1. Go to the trades page, choose the trade and find your area.
2. Open the business's profile.
3. Contact them using the details on the profile, and tell them what you need, where the job is and when.

Close your job

1. Open Hire and open the job.
2. Choose Close job.
3. Pick a reason and select Close job.

No new tradies can take it after that.

Hired someone?

1. Open the job and choose I hired a tradie.
2. Pick who you hired.

Add or remove photos

Open the job in Hire and use the Photos section.

Got the quotes you need?

Open the job in Hire, choose Close job and pick a reason. No new tradies can take it.

Hired someone?

1. Open the job in Hire and select I hired a tradie.
2. Pick who you hired, or Someone else if you found them outside SureQuote.
3. When the work's finished, select Job done to save it in your Home Logbook.
