Allan recently installed my new gas oven and removed the old one. He was extremely prompt, fitting me in just a few days after I called. Throughout the process, Allan was professional, efficient, and reasonably priced. Since I’ve been managing my property from interstate, Allan also made coordinating with my tenant completely stress-free. I can’t recommend him highly enough and will definitely be using his services again!

Allan installed our gas heater 10 years ago and did a fantastic job. The heater has been very efficient and trouble free. We recently got Allan back to undertake a service on it and that was carried out quickly, efficiently and professionally. If you need your gas appliances serviced, it is worth speaking with Allan to get the work done. The gas heater will need to be serviced every 3 years, so we'll see Allan again then!

Very happy to recommend Allan. He installed a new oven, a large project requiring both gas and electrical work. He coordinated the electrician's involvement, was responsive in making the arrangements beforehand, punctual and organised on the day. Pricing was also reasonable. I'm really pleased with the work and found Allan (and Kris, the electrician) very helpful compared to others I consulted for quotes.

Carpentry costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
