High quality workmanship. Luke, Jack and his team completed and project managed from start to finish a new laundry (demolition, refit, plumbing, electrical, gyprock, tiling and paint). Attention to detail, reliability and layout/design advice helped immensely with decision making. We were so pleased with the laundry that a powder room, pool daybed and studio were done as well.

Dealing with Luke was excellent. Kept up to date every step of the way and he was very accommodating with changes we requested throughout our projects. We will be using Luke for all future works.

Luke and his Team are absolute legends! Very creative, upfront and do not shy away from hard work! They did the deck for us with a perfect finish! We had pool heater and filter boxes that needed to be hidden creatively and they did a great job in making the ‘bench boxes’ that took a lot of work! Site was left clean and tidy every day! Great work and they are back doing whole lot for us now including two bathrooms underway!

Carpentry costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
Is Luke Ward Carpentry licensed?
Yes. Luke Ward Carpentry currently shows an active trade licence on SureQuote.
