Despite being someone who rarely writes reviews, I feel compelled to share my experience with Besh, our architect (BQ Architects). His exceptional service and outstanding approach deserve recognition. We engaged Besh after an unpleasant encounter with a project builder. Over an 18-month period, the builder designed a house for us, and we secured council approvals. However, we were blindsided by a 40% increase from the initial quote and a 20% hike from their “high confidence” conservative estimate which was provided before we went to council only a few months before our final pricing. While we acknowledge that Covid played a role, these price escalations exceeded those of other companies. Importantly with a project builder, we didn’t even own the plans, leaving us with limited fallback options. Determined to regain control, we sought a talented, collaborative and dynamic architect. Besh stood out for several reasons. First, he ensured that we would own the plans at the end of the process, allowing us to choose a builder based on both price and quality. No more being locked into a single option without the flexibility to explore alternatives. Secondly, his designs have received acclaim in the mainstream media, with features on Channel 9Life's "Australia's Best Home" TV show across several seasons. This exposure underscores his expertise and creativity, which is also evident in the facade he designed for us, as shown in the attached image. Third, Besh's proficiency isn't limited to design; it was more comprehensive. While some firms shine in aesthetics but falter in construction know-how, Besh stood out. His firsthand development experience gave him deep insights into cost factors. His solid construction industry ties meant he could monitor price during the design process. Then crucially, Besh’s scope of work goes beyond design. He can assist in finding a builder, meticulously reviewing specifications, and even running a tender process for your project. His commitment to ensuring a seamless transition from concept to reality sets him apart. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend Besh to anyone seeking an upcoming, leading architect for their dream home. His blend of creativity, practicality, and commitment sets him apart. With Besh, you’re not just getting a designer; you’re gaining a partner who ensures your vision becomes a reality.
