Jacobs Building

Jackie and I decided to build a straw bale house. Jacobs Building rose to the challenge, worked with my brother’s design starting with construction of the wooden framework and roof of the house ready for in-filling with the straw bales. It was a creative project for all of us and Ray and Brett's ability to solve problems and work with the straw bale experts was a model team exercise. There were wide openings in the walls for bi-fold doors, so it was not a simple project. Once the exterior straw bale work was completed and the walls rendered, Ray fitted out the internal walls. A job well done and a house and interior much complimented.

Ray and his team are a very passionate and experienced team who have a great eye for detail. They are very reliable, knowledgeable and skilled. We contacted Ray when we first bought our place in Monkerai and they built our 7x7m deck, renovated our bathroom and built our new shed. Ray designed and built the new deck to ensure the style matched the old farm house and was in the right position to capture the gorgeous views, breezes and sunshine. It’s become one of the most used areas of the house. It’s a perfect place to entertain and in any weather! The bathroom needed a lot of work and was totally modernised with walk-in shower/ wet area, toilet and vanity. We loved the work Ray and his team did. We got them back to build our shed, which was a massive task excavating and laying the slab. Ray again helped us with the design and has great local contacts/ suppliers for the job.

My wife and I engaged the services of Jacobs Building to convert our shed into a house on our off-grid rural property near Gloucester. Ray's vision, knowledge and 'can-do' attitude allowed us to create a quality home much better than we anticipated but more importantly, within our budget and time frame. We were impressed by his professionalism and attention to detail. His friendly team worked well together and were always punctual even when the weather was not so kind. Jacobs Building has worked on two projects for me now, involving both renovation and new additions to two properties. Ray and his team remodelled our bathroom earlier this year. They did a beautiful job of creating out dream bathroom. Ray was extremely helpful, going above and beyond to offer advice and help with other projects we had going on in the home as well as the job he was completing.
