Dixons were very professional, sending someone around to estimate the job, and we always knew when to expect them to arrive, the work they would complete and they actually did everything as promised. We had some difficult trees to trim in a tricky position, but the team did an excellent job and even cleaned up everything afterwards! Super impressed by them and will be getting them back again.

I highly recommend Dixons after our recent experience with our neighbour’s large eucalyptus tree spontaneously dropping a large bough across the fence line. Phil Dixon came out to inspect and assess the scope of work and then his team arrived to clear up, ensuring that the fence was fully salvaged. Phil then came back to assess for any other suspect boughs in the tree and Connor and Callum came in, set rigging up in the tree and safely removed two large boughs without damaging any surrounding structures or vegetation. When they had finished the garden was clear with no sign of all the recent activity and all the material removed. I am especially impressed with the way the work on the tree was completed as a work of art which will also reduce any risk of the tree being prone to infection. The professionalism of the entire operation was first class and we will be using Dixon’s services the next time we need any tree work completed. Thank you, Phil & Team.

I highly recommend Dixons trees .The process was quick and efficient . Everyone I dealt with was very respectful and helpful giving me confidence that the job could be done safely and without any damage to the garden and property . It all went smoothly on the day and the team did a fantastic job. We chose to keep the wood for firewood so they moved it to the side of the site to keep the yard clear and racked up the sawdust . I will use Dixons again if the need arises .

Highly Recommended the team at Dixons. From the moment I enquired, through to the completion of work, they were in constant communication. The team that cut the tree down were also great. Nice people who also did a great job considering size and access and were able to leave the property clean.

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
How do I get a quote from Dixons Trees?
