I was stranded, after hours, on a Friday afternoon due to a faulty key fob for my car. Carney's had someone out to me within the hour who was able to fix the issue for a reasonable price. He was very thorough and explained, in detail, what had happened and how he resolved it. I highly recommend these guys, especially if you're in a jam and need reliable, efficient help.

I had lost my car key and on short notice James came out to organise a replacement. Quick, polite and professional sorted out a new key and spare for a reasonable price.

Had an old key snap in the ignition. James came round promptly and hooked me up with a new key and a spare set. Smooth process start to finish. And a nice guy to boot! Highly recommend.

We had a key break in an ignition barrel on one of our trucks. Carney’s locksmiths responded quickly, fixed the lock and cut us spare keys. Fantastic service. Would highly recommend them.

From the very first message with Carney's I could tell I was dealing with a professional company. James was fantastic to deal with and helped with sorting out some replacement car keys in Port Kennedy within a short time frame. He provided exceptional customer service, a high standard of work and a very convenient hassle free service with a very reasonable price! I'd absolutely recommend anyone to work with James, 10/10.

James provides exceptional service and takes the utmost pride in his work. When he visited my job I had only told him of a few issues that I needed addressed. He ended up with about double the original work and was more than happy to complete it all on the day. His truck also had all the parts needed to complete these jobs bar some small plastics not even produced any longer, however he has generously offered to collect them from other jobs where he is replacing older style components and they would otherwise be binned and then install them for me in his travels. Top notch work, thank you again James!

Locksmith costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do locksmiths typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the job — a simple key cut or rekey is usually much less than emergency entry or full hardware replacement. This page shows live pricing for local providers to help you compare options. Many locksmiths charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate and materials, and after-hours or emergency work generally attracts higher rates.
Do locksmiths charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials and may apply even for quick or small jobs. It's worth confirming any call-out or minimum charge when getting quotes.
Do locksmiths need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Locksmithing is a licensed occupation across Australia, and in NSW licences are issued by the NSW Police Force — Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED). You should expect a provider to display a valid state security licence number and to hold industry credentials such as MLAA, LGA or ASIAL membership, a Certificate III in Locksmithing, an ABN with GST registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
How do I get a quote from Carney's Locksmiths?
Carney's Locksmiths lists phone or through their website on this profile, so you can contact them directly for pricing and availability. Share a short scope and photos to get a faster quote.
