I had walked past some beautiful gates for a while, finally plucking up the courage to ask the owner who had installed them. He told me it was Andrew from A&K Gates, and recommended him highly. I contacted Andrew and from the first discussion to installation he was absolutely fabulous. Andrew organised the gates and fence panels I wanted and installed them with absolute precision. He was highly professional, quickly responding to any questions I had and with a lovely manner too. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I am delighted with my gates - lovely quality and beautifully installed. Given his approachable manner, I know I can contact him in the future should I need any maintenance or repair work - so I am extremely happy. I adore the main sliding gate too - such a smooth and easy opening mechanism on it.

Urgent Call-Out! One wire had snapped on my B&D garage door. I had spent Thursday evening figuring out how to 1) manually raise the door to get the cars out, and 2) lower the door that was now on angle! For seemingly thin aluminum, that thing is freakin’ heavy! Rang Andrew Friday morning - before the long weekend mind you - and he said he would get there that afternoon to repair. He did. He repaired. He maintained and he serviced. All for a fair price considering the circumstance. Thank you Andrew. Now, if I can just remember to get him around every year or so for servicing….

Frequently asked questions

How much do door installers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on whether the job is a simple adjustment, a standard internal or external door install, or work involving custom doors or frame modifications. Quotes commonly combine a call-out fee, hourly labour and materials, with after-hours or emergency work usually attracting higher rates. The live pricing shown on this page reflects current regional rates and the typical job bands for each type of work.
Do door installers charge call-out fees?
Many door installers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Call-out fees are common in the rate card, though they may sometimes be waived if substantial work proceeds; it’s worth confirming this when requesting a quote. After-hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates.
Do door installers need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Door installers generally need a contractor licence or registration in every Australian state and territory; in NSW the relevant authority is the Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). Look for a valid state contractor licence or registration displayed on quotes and advertising, an ABN with active registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
How do I get a quote from A&K Doors?
A&K Doors lists phone or through their website on this profile, so you can contact them directly for pricing and availability. Share a short scope and photos to get a faster quote.
