Tom did an incredible job installing our acoustic wall panels. Such a friendly local and he literally is the Reliable Guy, which is so important. Thanks, will use again

Tom’s work is exceptional. Finished my sideboard n build new cupboard for the laundry. I had to reschedule which was no problem. I’m delighted n couldn’t recommend highly enough.

We had a tricky project. An older cabinet housing our electrical service panel, hot water system and storage shelving had extensive water damage. Also, being in an apartment made the job that much more difficult. Tom (The Reliable Guy) was able to completely remove the existing damaged cabinetry and replace this with a far more up-to-date and usable solution that included modifications to allow for the electrical panel and hot water tank. Due to the necessity of coordinating cabinetry with a plumber and electrician, timing was important and Tom's skills, professionalism and punctuality was much appreciated and we couldn't be happier with the result. The new cabinet solution looks modern and appears to seamlessly flow on from similar cabinets in our kitchen. We really appreciate the care taken to match up the handle layout to ensure symmetry and visual appeal. Tom also provided an attractive solution to cover up some exposed pipes extending across the ceiling. In addition, a clear quote was provided in advance that we were happy with, timings were as agreed upon and all rubbish removed/area cleaned as they worked. We would happily work with The Reliable Guy again and would highly recommend this business. Before and After photos attached.

Tom was great to work with from start to finish. Not only does he care about the workmanship and finish, buts he’s a generally great guy too! We’ve used him for 2 jobs now, highly recommend.

Great dealing with Tom. Transparent with quoting on the work to be done, was on time as promised & friendly. Did some other small things I needed while onsite. Would recommend.

Carpentry costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
Is The Reliable Guy licensed?

Does The Reliable Guy have a verified ABN?
