South Sea Decking

Tom and his team from South Sea Carpentry recently completed a knock down rebuild of our old deck. The job was extensive, as it covered decks to all sides of our home and included the complete replacement of the existing framework and the removal and insertion of a new spa within the deck. We are very impressed by the end result! Tom and his team are perfectionists, their attention to detail is outstanding, they ensure every aspect of the job was completed to the highest standard and they found clever solutions when faced with unexpected issues. Tom is approachable, always happy to explain the processes, everything from their punctuality, hard work, care and commitment ensured the best result possible and the quality of the materials used, was greatly appreciated by us both. I hired Tom Dillon, of South Sea Carpentry, to add a new composite deck and replace a retaining wall in my backyard. I had just purchased the duplex and it had a 25 year old retaining wall and plain grass. I wanted a deck to cover about one third of the grass area and to have some features like a bench seat and built in planter boxes. Start to finish Tom did the most amazing job for me. I am pinching myself because I love my new backyard so much. Tom did the job that I requested, checking with me all along the way to be sure that we were on the same page. In addition, Tom was extremely creative in some of the things that he added or in how he enhanced my original ideas. And, when something unexpected came up he always put forth a great solution. Tom is very personable and happy to discuss process, he welcomes your questions throughout. But understand, whenever you notice just the tiniest detail that looks off, Tom already knows about it and it is usually because you've jumped the gun and he is not done yet! He is a perfectionist. He truly wants everything done exceptionally. Best materials, best workmanship. Finally, Tom's crew Dean and Sam were a pleasure. 🙏

Tom did a fantastic job transforming our back deck into a beautiful space. He replaced our rotted deck with composite decking and installed built in bench seating, planter boxes and built in BBQ with storage. He is very professional, kept us updated at all stages and coordinated all trades. The quality is amazing and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tom for any carpentry project. Tom, Pete and Sam from South Sea Carpentry did a fantastic job on our renovation project. They are highly skilled carpenters with an attention to detail and producing a high quality finish. We had a general idea about what we wanted done, and Tom brought his own unique perspective to the job which allowed the finished product to be much better than our original idea. He was transparent with all costings and provided regular updates on progress and how much extras would cost, such as using certain hard woods, labour for intricate finishes, etc. They turned up on-time and worked diligently while on site. We would highly recommend South Sea Carpentry and will definitely be contacting Tom again for our next project.
