I cannot recommend Tristann from Next Gen highly enough. Over the last year we have had him inspect five properties for us, in the Canterbury/Surrey Hills areas, ranging $2.8 - $3.8m. The first was a beautiful heritage weatherboard which turned out to have extensive termite and water damage and it needed the entire subfloor replacing (still sold $500k over the range). The second property Tristann went into the roof space and found the roof was being supported by a heap of strategically placed rubbish. The third house he signed off on but it sold for $1m over the stated price range, so we missed out. The 4th place had illegal electrical wiring, no certification for the extensive but sub-standard renovation, and all three of the newly renovated bathrooms had signs of water damage, so he saved us from buying a lemon there too. The fifth place got the tick of approval and we were lucky enough to have our offer accepted! All of his reports were comprehensive (all major and minor defects listed with photographic evidence), easy to understand, and delivered within hours of the inspection. For the more shoddy properties I'd get a phone call shortly after as well, which I appreciated. There were a couple of times he was able to fit us in at short-notice prior to auction, which was great. After the first couple of reports I actually learned what to look for and then I could see when there was no point in getting an inspection if the termite damage is obvious even to me! He didn't try to talk us out of anything, but made sure we knew the likely risks involved with each major defect. He has saved us multiple times from a financial nightmare and a house that would have been a money pit rather than a dream home. If you want peace of mind and an inspector who actually has your back, look no further.

I engaged and paid for Tristan to inspect a property after he came highly recommend from both a broker and agent. He got back to me immediately and booked the inspection withing 48 hours. Unfortunately the property got an offer over my budget before our planned inspection! Tristan was really honest and professional about giving me a refund when i decided now was not the best time for me to buy. Even though i didnt end up using his services I will definitely engage him again when my circumstances change. If you are lookout for someone honest and trustworthy my experience is nextgen is a safe bet.
