National Roof Inspections

National Roof Inspections are lifesavers! Well in my case they were. Recently engaged NRI as something didn't feel right in regards to the new roof replacement I had completed (not via insurance, just a job that needed doing). The roofing contractors work was abysmal and the poor workmanship just left you gob smacked. Thank goodness I went with my gut feeling and didn't just settle on this occasion and engaged RFI to complete a very detailed report. This confirmed my thoughts and nothing done by the contractor was compliant by Australian standards and the whole roof needs to be re-done again due to too many defects. I find it disgusting that this roofing company took no pride in their work, and just out to try and make a quick buck, hoping their clients don't go onto their roofs to check their work - so glad I did though (I have a flat roof so probably easier than some!). They weren't the cheapest and they weren't the most expensive, after doing some research I still can't believe I fell for a company that did dodgy work. I sent an email back to them requesting a full refund and fortunately for me I had only paid 45% upfront, but as of yesterdays notice to them which included this perfectly presented report, glad to say they refunded me back my initial 45% immediately!!! If I hadn't completed this independent roof inspection report, who knows how long this could have dragged out. I think I'm one of the lucky ones but please go with your gut if something doesn't feel right. We had $46000 at stake on re-roofing our home and we were constantly running into conflict with the roofing contractor who just kept trying to downgrade the scope, materials and quality of the work and was also trying to get out of an insurance claim caused by his sloppy practices. NRI were fantastic and the inspection and reports that they provided kept the roofing contractor accountable for his work even though he dragged his heels arguing about every last problem on the report for 5 weeks, right up until the day we were due for a final inspection. NRI even flew a senior inspector from interstate the week before Christmas so that there was no disputing the final inspection. It also provided my wife and I with peace of mind that the work had been done to a standard and that our huge investment would withstand the test of time. It provided our bank with the certainty that the loan was going to protect their investment. It provided our insurance company certainty that water ingress wasn't going to cause us to make another claim. All around, a win, win for a relatively small extra investment. John was amazing, very efficient, professional and worked to our timeline, (which wasn’t much notice), John was able to fast track our report which helped us immensely to understand exactly what condition the roof was in.
