Choosing to design our house with Cast has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. We could not recommend Cast Studio highly enough. David and the team have embraced designing our home all while supporting our family through the process as we navigated some tough life challenges. From the get go it was clear that Cast approach their projects as craftspeople with a deep investment in designing and delivering a home that combines form, function and family needs. Their passion for the project, commitment to the brief and attention to detail have been exceptional. This has truly felt like one united team all pointing in the same direction. We’ll forever be grateful to David, Jake, Stephen and the team for going above and beyond to create our family home.

David Barr and his team worked patiently with us on our extension in Mt Hawthorn, which responded to our brief but introduced a lot of creative ideas to the design that maximized natural light, the available space of a small single story house, and the flow and connection to the back yard. They supported us through construction as well, helping us work through many challenges such as COVID shutdowns, the failure of the original builder, and the appointment of a replacement to finish the project off. Whilst a somewhat traumatic experience, overall the outcome was a massive transformation of our home that speaks to the quality of the design.

We are extremely happy with the home extension that David and team have designed for us. We were very happy with the team’s understanding of our initial brief and their final interpretation in the final design. We loved working with David throughout the design & build process, and working together to resolve the various issues. David was very respectful of our thoughts, and was able to provide counterbalance in an articulate and thoughtful way. We were thrilled by the architectural design work on our home extension undertaken by David Barr and his team at Cast Studio . Case Studio has a strong planning and design process and keeps clients engaged and informed in every aspect of the project. The team successfully translated our rough ideas into beautiful and leading architectural plans. We were also extremely impressed by how well David worked through the at times complex Council approval processes in the heritage area where our house is located (Subiaco). We found David and his team very thoughtful in working with us and very talented in all aspects of architectural design.

Cast designed and helped manage a second story addition to our home. David was fantastic to work with from project conception to completion. He was calm and always helped to solve any problems that came up along the way. Our original builder went bankrupt which was incredibly stressful and David helped guide us through the process our filing insurance paperwork and tendering with new builders. We have now been in our home for 2 years. It is beautiful and functional. It completely fulfilled our brief of connection with our outdoor space and bringing in light. It is so stunning that we have people knocking at our door to get the name of our architect. I highly recommend Cast.

This review is well overdue to say the least. However, it probably carries more weight as it hasn't been written in the immediate "honeymoon period" where everything is likely to be unrealistically fantastic. However, I'm delighted to report that after moving in some 2 years ago, it is absolutely fantastic! We simply could not be happier with the home David Barr designed for us, and his careful oversight during the build stage. Right from the initial planning meeting, it was clear we had landed on the right team. David very quickly understood what we wanted and was more than happy for us to generate ideas and collaborate along the way. David's ideas and suggestions were excellent and anything but cookie cutter. We pretty much adopted all of his ideas. His selection of materials and critically, his suggested builder (Interstruct), ensured what we all thought was achievable became a reality. There's always going to be some compromise when building, and we had to rein ourselves in at times, but working closely with David, we found a way and didn't end up with any regrets. From a back office perspective, everything was completed with utmost professionalism, including plans, approvals, accounts, etc. If you are reading this and want to work with someone who genuinely gets it, and is as invested as you are in your dream home, look no further.
