Smith Builders constructed our beach house in the Mornington Peninsula from 2016-17. We were really impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail and timely delivery of the project. We are thrilled with the end result and the quality of build. Steve and Vicki Smith and Steve Quint (Project Manager) were a pleasure to work with, especially in prompt communication, photo updates and excellent project management which was important to us as we live in Melbourne and didn’t want to have to be on-site every week. We believe Smith Builders deserve their reputation as the best builders in the Mornington Peninsula and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Five years ago we purchased our current home at Portsea and engaged Smith builders to renovate the property. We found all aspects of their service to be of the highest quality. The delivery of the essential requirements being; build and finish quality, timing, communication, and financial reporting; were excellent. Our experience over one new build and one complete house, garden, pool & tennis court renovation has been 10/10. Every communication is seamless and one is treated as an important client. The builds have been seamless with quality trades people who have worked on both projects, therefore, valued team members that we trust and rely upon. The after build/service has been 10/10. There has never been one issue with anything being attended to fairly and promptly. The trades are local, that alone has provided no delays in timing as they are close and available.

The Builder, S. Smith Builders Pty Ltd were recommended by our Architect to the property, and was previously unknown to me. References sought were positive and complimentary. Negotiations and contract preparation was executed without difficulty and was signed early February 2018 for a targeted completion, late 2019/early 2020. Due to the site complexities a cost plus contract was executed. Work commenced on the site in in March 2018 with substantial engineering works to foundations requiring a long preparation prior to building works commencing. Construction generally progressed smoothly and on time. Materials and finishes were excellent. The builder and the management team were cooperative, supportive and responsive to any difficulties or variations. Contractors were well managed and generally produced excellent work. Contract works were 30% over budget due to a cost estimate overrun which was unforeseen, variations and additional works that were required and a few unknowns. The builder managed the complex site construction very well, and I am happy to recommend them for all type of residential construction having observed their performance on our building project.

We are very pleased with our experience using Steve and Vicki Smith to renovate and extend our beach house. They and their team are exceptional to work with and are very professional. The finish of our the build is very high quality resulting in a fabulous result.
