JDL Construction

The experience with JDL through the renovations and extension of our house built in 1950 was exceptional. At concept/design stage, Kieran and Ray thoughtfully took into account our uses of the different areas of the house and carefully tied in the new extension elements with the old character part of the house, which meant so much to us. The design is now so functional and efficient and modern yet true to the character of the house. They were always upfront and honest with how much things cost. They finished the renovations within budget and on time. Everything was communicated from start to finish. The almost daily photo updates and descriptions was such good service and put our minds at ease. The staff and tradespeople have great workmanship and attention to detail. Everyone was kind and friendly to deal with. We have lived in our renovated house for a little over a year now and everything has kept beautifully and we are so happy with it. We would highly recommend JDL (alongside UPD8 Design) and would gladly use them again in the future.

We were suitably impressed with Kieran and John from our first meeting with them. Not only were they able to convey a wealth of experience that only a truly seasoned builder could, they also had an innovative and progressive approach to their documentation and administration. Quotes and proposals were very clearly laid out and itemised, which gave us a good understanding as well as a basis for comparison with other builders we were reviewing. This transparency, along with their obvious understanding of our vision and budgetary constraints were the primary reasons we elected to use JDL Constructions for our renovation. During the build, in fact right from the start, they demonstrated that innovation through problem solving of some complex initial challenges and constant high level communication. This build was a very personal project for us, one we were very much invested in both financially and emotionally, and at times we must have been challenging clients (sorry guys!). However John and Kieran always had time for us, and were very accommodating with our crazy last minute design changes wherever possible. When we did have minor misunderstandings (as I’m sure there are on all projects) they were always handled professionally and fairly – in fact sometimes more than fairly, by the JDL team. The end result is that we were delivered a beautiful home which shows as much care and thoughtfulness in the build, as we put into the design. We have had a number of post-build follow up appointments with JDL, and their willingness to address minor matters that have cropped up as the house settles has given us great reassurance and proven that our trust in them was well founded. We are already dreaming up our next big building project, and wouldn’t hesitate to use JDL again in the future – in fact I’m sure that we will!

Right from the start JDL were professional, friendly and accommodating - John, Kieran and their team were a pleasure to work with. They successfully dealt with all the challenges a post-war bungalow major renovation and a top floor addition could offer and delivered us a magnificent, contemporary, high quality built home to live in. My wife and I engaged JDL to build an extra bedroom & bathroom on the back of our house. The extension was custom-built offsite by Bretts Hardware and craned into place connecting to our existing deck. The whole experience was streamlined and cost-effective. We're also really happy that the modular blends in well with our character home. JDL are a family run business, great communicators and a pleasure to deal with. We would, without a doubt, recommend JDL to anyone looking for a professional and reliable builder.

I am so happy we have choose JDL to be our builder for house renovation! They are professional, friendly(and kids friendly) easygoing and price wise! We love all the builders they have! If I need to do another renovation they will be my only choice!
