We had the pleasure of collaborating with Ben on a recent project where we completed the glazing for a set of custom timber windows. From start to finish, communication was clear, timelines were well managed, and the attention to detail on the build made our job seamless. It’s always a pleasure working with a builder who takes pride in their work and values quality trades. The finished result speaks for itself, and we’d happily work together again on future projects. Highly recommended🙌🏻🙌🏻

We recently had a full kitchen renovation done by Welsh Construction and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The job involved knocking out structural and support walls and installing support beams, so it was a big project. From the get-go, Ben and his team were professional, reliable, and knew exactly what they were doing. They always showed up on time, kept everything tidy, and were great to deal with throughout the whole process. Super approachable and respectful of our home, which made a huge difference. Absolutely wrapped with our new kitchen and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Welsh Construction to anyone looking for quality work. Michelle

I feel the need to leave a second review. I had Ben Welch and his team do some great work in 2023 and they did a fantastic job. Came in, sorted the project, cleaned up every day and the work was great. We moved house and got WCG back for a bigger job, replacing a 20 year old deck around a pool. Again they went above and beyond. The quality of the work and cleanliness of their work is outstanding. You get what you pay for and we are so happy with the outcome. Check out the quality of their work to even cut around each coping tile- who does that. Recommend this team to anyone needing good quality, long lasting work. Happy to give verbal or email recommendation if you get in touch

Frequently asked questions

How much do builders typically charge?

Builder costs vary widely depending on the job type and complexity. Minor repairs are generally much less than extensions, small builds or structural alterations that need foundations, framing or specialist input. Most quotes include a call‑out fee plus labour and materials, and the page shows live pricing to help you compare options.

Do builders charge call-out fees?

Call‑out fees are common and typically cover travel and an initial inspection or assessment. This fee is usually separate from hourly labour and materials, and after‑hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates. Ask whether a call‑out or minimum charge applies when requesting quotes.

Do builders need a licence in Australia?

Yes. Building work generally needs to be carried out by a licensed builder in every state and territory, and NSW builders are regulated by NSW Fair Trading. Builders should be able to provide their state builder/contractor licence number and show appropriate insurances and ABN/GST registration. In Victoria, domestic building insurance is required above a state threshold for certain contracts.
