10yrs ago Wal Robbins did extensions on my home that is why when I wanted to do renovations I didn't hesitate to contact them again. From start to finish I was involved in all the decision making with nothing being too much. From meeting Ray who came out & took all the information required to start the process & going over the contracts, to talking with Aimee on the phone about payments or service providers for appointments, to meeting David (Site Manager) & his team throughout the build was a genuinely overall a fantastic experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for any building job that you might require.

From the initial engagement with John, Wal Robbins Design Architect, we knew this was the building company we wanted to go with. We added a second storey with a bathroom, 2 x bedrooms and a lounge, and fully renovated the ground floor, with kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and extended ground level bedrooms and living areas. During this process we found Wal Robbins to be exceptionally professional. All staff and trades people were friendly, courteous and very obliging as we were living in the premises whilst renovating. Our supervisor Leigh together with Bali and the team were fantastic and on top of their game to keep things running very smoothly. We would highly recommend Wal Robbins for any renovation or addition as we are extremely happy with the result and have had many compliments from our neighbours. Thank you to the Wal Robbins Team for giving us our beautiful forever home.

So glad I chose Wal Robbin’s for my internal renovations. From Ray, Aimee, Bali, David, Bailey, the 2 Mick’s, Simon,John, Brendan, Eli and anyone else who worked on my renovations that I have forgotten, are all the friendliest co-operative tradesmen I have had the pleasure of working with. I deal with contractors often in my profession but Wal Robbin’s contractors are terrific. They talk to you and treat you like a family member. Any concern is no problem for them to help out with. Wish I had of used them for my external extension as well but unfortunately I didn’t and in hindsight it was a big error on my part. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a great professional job. Thank you all so much for your support through this rather stressful journey of renovating/extending. Sue Ingram.

Interesting to read reviews about return customers because I am also one! Wal Robbins did our second floor addition about 10 years ago and many of the same people who helped with that came along to quote on my bathroom renovation which was caused by a water proofing failure from another builder (and no thanks to NRMA). In any case, David and the team were exceptional again. The work is impeccable and one of the things that is so critical in these jobs is communication which the team are definitely good at. They are a busy team so sometimes those comms are a bit slower but that's not through lack of effort and regardless, the message is always clear. Special call out to the quality of the tiling job (which, let's be honest is a big part of a bathroom). I've never seen work like it. The pride that has been taken in that job really speaks to the individual and I'm very thankful.

Wal Robbins just completed a complicated addition which included a gable roof, windows, bifold doors, sliding doors, and internal cavity doors. The build required a demo, piering, plumbing, concrete, electrical, plaster etc etc and from the initial consultation to final touches, the team delivered above my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend Wal Robbins additions to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and honest builder.

Frequently asked questions

How much do builders typically charge?
Builder costs vary widely depending on the job type and complexity. Minor repairs are generally much less than extensions, small builds or structural alterations that need foundations, framing or specialist input. Most quotes include a call‑out fee plus labour and materials, and the page shows live pricing to help you compare options.
Do builders charge call-out fees?
Call‑out fees are common and typically cover travel and an initial inspection or assessment. This fee is usually separate from hourly labour and materials, and after‑hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates. Ask whether a call‑out or minimum charge applies when requesting quotes.
Do builders need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Building work generally needs to be carried out by a licensed builder in every state and territory, and NSW builders are regulated by NSW Fair Trading. Builders should be able to provide their state builder/contractor licence number and show appropriate insurances and ABN/GST registration. In Victoria, domestic building insurance is required above a state threshold for certain contracts.
