We would highly recommend Ben and his team for any fencing or block wall work you may need. They recently built a new rendered block fence with slat infills around our corner property (front and two sides) and we are so happy and impressed with not only the quality of their work, but their work ethics too. They were reliable, they showed up when they said they would, and they always kept us informed of progress or issues. They were also very flexible and willing to work with us to accommodate our needs and our schedule, which was really important to us. They were very competitive on price, providing us with a fair quote in a timely manner, and they did a great job of explaining the different options available to us and helped us choose what was best for our needs. The block wall Ben and his team built exactly what we asked for and expected. We are really happy with the quality of their work and how they went about their work. Nothing was ever a problem, they were clean and tidy, and they even went out of their way to please our neighbours.

Great bricklayer. From the first phone call Will kept in touch with me and we texted back and forth with measurements and photos. Managed to squeeze me in early so close to Christmas and did a really neat job and tidied up after himself as well. Highly recommend.

Bricklaying costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do bricklayers typically charge?
Costs for bricklaying vary depending on the job—simple repairs are typically much less than building new walls that need footings or excavation. Many bricklayers charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, and after-hours or specialist heritage work is often charged at higher rates. This page shows live pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do bricklayers charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common for bricklayers, particularly for small or single-visit jobs. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials costs. It's worth asking each tradesperson whether a call-out or minimum charge applies to your job.
Do bricklayers need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Bricklayers must be licensed in every Australian state and territory; in NSW the relevant authority is Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should ask to see a valid state contractor licence or registration and proof of public liability insurance before work begins.
