Highly recommend the Hive Solar Batteries & the team at Solar Battery Group. They have been great throughout the whole process, making it effortless at our end to have the Hive Solar Battery installed!! We have saved so much on our power bills since having it installed & we are so happy with the Hive Battery system that we are in the process of our expanding our battery capacity.

After seeing Solar Batteries Group's ad on TV right in the middle of a news broadcast about increasing energy charges and just a few days after my energy retailer, Alinta advised me that their price paid for solar power was going down, I rang you. I should mention here that, at first, I was quite concerned that your ad was a scam and that you only wanted to get money from me but, now that everything is completed and done, I have realised that I couldn't have been more wrong (EXCEPT to say that I think the ad should say that the price quoted was PLUS GST. I realise that, in certain business installations, GST would not be applicable but that doesn't apply in domestic situations and it would be better if it was, at least, mentioned. However, it is not my job to tell you how to advertise!) Anyway, Michael, the licenced electrician came right on time to fit the battery and discovered that my switchboard did not comply with the regulations concerning solar batteries and, if I wanted to go ahead with my order, I would have to address that problem first. Michael told me that he could not proceed without upgrading the switchboad, as his trade licence would be endanged and so I told him there was no way I would expect him to put his livelihood at risk. He also told me that, if I decided to proceed, he could do the extra work and gave what I later dicovered was an extremely good price (I am bound to get a quote from the contract electrician for the complex I live in and he quoted nearly $400 more so I asked Micheal to do it!) This involved having to defer the installation until he could get the necessary switchboad and, again, he arrived to do the work right on time and, as part of the installation, checked the solar panels (which were NOT installed by Solar Battery Group) and found that one of the connections on my roof was broken and fixed it. He told me that was included in the ten year service package that I had also bought. Michael and his assistant were very tidy and completed the work on time and the battery was working fine. (This should be end of my sory but there's more!) About a week after the installation, (and nothing to do with my battery) the complex had to have all 89 mains switches upgraded to bring them into line with modern requirements which was done by the contract electrician and he advised my that my power would be off for about half a day whilst the work was being done (which was fine). However, after he had finished I noticed that the fault light on my battery was red and there were no bars on the charge indicator lit in the middle of a brightm sunny day so I 'phoned the Solar Battery Group 1800 number and was answered after about three rings by a young lady who gave her name as Iana (I think that's how she spells it) and the only question she asked me was my first name which, of course, I told her. Within seconds, Iana told me that there was a fault with my battery before I could tell her anything! I was absolutely amazed! Anyway, to cut the story short, I told her that the complex electician had been working here and she immediately said that explained it and VERY helpfiully and courteously talked me through a short process to get it back on line. (I should mention here that I am 80 years old and Iana was really understanding and told me not to rush. I was amazed when she told me that one swith was on a brick wall and another was on a white wall! How did she know?) After probably about 15 minutes she told me that everything was working as it is supposed to be and told me not to hesitate to call her again if anything else seemed wrong. That has NOT been necessary! I can tell you that I was singlarly impressed by her knowledge and professionalism as I am with everthing that Solar Battery Group have done so far and I will not hesitate to recommend you to all my friends. The fact that you include a ten year follow-up service tells me that you are true professionals and I thank you.

Solar costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do solar installers typically charge?
Solar costs vary widely depending on system size, equipment choices, roof access and whether additional electrical upgrades or battery work are required. Simple panel adds or routine maintenance are typically much less involved than full system installs or battery integrations. This page shows live pricing to help compare current rates alongside the specific scope of your job.
Do solar installers charge call-out fees?
Yes — call-out fees are common for solar installers and are often charged to cover attendance and an initial assessment. Call-outs are usually separate from hourly labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency visits typically attract higher rates. Confirm whether a call-out fee is included or listed separately when comparing quotes.
Do solar installers need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Solar installation work is required to be carried out by a licensed installer in every Australian state and territory, and in NSW installers are licensed through NSW Fair Trading. Many installers also hold industry credentials such as Clean Energy Council accreditation and may display a valid state electrical contractor licence on quotes, as well as public liability insurance. These credentials can help indicate the installer has relevant training and compliance practices.
Does Hive Solar Batteries have a verified ABN?
Yes. Hive Solar Batteries has completed ABN verification on SureQuote.
