I had a vinyl liner pool with issues that no other pool servicing company could resolve. I called and emailed multiple businesses, but none had the time or expertise to help. Then I found Grant Richardson from Pool Matrix. Grant brought a unique skill set and an out-of-the-box approach to diagnosing the root cause of the problem. His analysis was thorough, and the solution he implemented was spot-on. The work was completed over three days with zero disruption to my home—always clean, tidy, and using high-quality equipment. What impressed me most is that Grant potentially saved me tens of thousands of dollars. Another contractor had suggested applying a fiberglass membrane, which would have been unnecessary and costly. Thanks to Grant’s knowledge and honesty, I avoided that mistake. Grant is the pool industry’s version of Liam Neeson in Taken—he has a very particular set of skills, and he uses them to deliver outstanding results. If you need someone who truly knows pools and cares about doing the job right, I highly recommend Pool Matrix.

Pool Matrix is an excellent pool-service and pool-supplies company. Grant Richardson of Pool Matrix assisted me greatly in 2023/24 while I was completing a pool construction project under my own steam, after the company I'd contracted pulled out of the work. Grant agreed to provide me with advice for the duration of the project on pool construction methods, soil compaction, the choice of vinyl vs tiled lining, waterproofing agents, plumbing, selection of pool equipment, pricing issues, and much more. Grant is an expert, and his assistance was invaluable. He's also very fair, personable and reliable. He and the Pool Matrix company are recommended.

Colin is straight forward and honest with high quality standards. If you have a leak in your pool call him before you call the other guys. I learned the hard way.

Frequently asked questions

How much do pool technicians typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on the type of job, its complexity and whether parts or full equipment replacements are required. Call-out fees, diagnostic time and after‑hours attendance often increase the total. This page shows live pricing to help you compare quotes for your specific job.
Do pool technicians charge call-out fees?
Many pool technicians charge a call-out fee to attend and carry out an initial diagnosis, which is usually separate from hourly labour and parts. After‑hours or emergency visits often attract higher rates. Check the live pricing shown on the page and confirm any call-out or minimum fees when getting quotes.
When do pool technicians need a licence?
Registration or a contractor licence is required in some states, with NSW, QLD and SA commonly requiring a current state contractor licence that can be verified on the public register. Whether a licence is needed often depends on the scope of work, so it's wise to ask for licence details and proof of insurance for larger installations or contractor-level work. Industry memberships and qualifications such as SPASA membership and Certificate III or IV in Swimming Pool and Spa Service are common indicators of experience.
Does Pool Matrix have a verified ABN?
