This is the second time I have requested a snake identification from these guys and I’m so glad I did. Turns out the snake is a harmless Keelback ( Swamp Tiger). We live out on a bush block in the South Burnett and do appreciate all our native wildlife, including snakes, so reassuring to know this fellow is harmless. These guys are very prompt and helpful and all for free!

Saw this fella curled up next to the curb. Got a bit concerned because there's school kids that use the footpath right next to the curb and didnt want them getting harmed. Not a snake expert but the size of it made me get a little worried about the safety of the people that pass by here. Took this picture and googled on how to identify / have this snake taken away. Brisbane Snake Catchers offered the free identification service through attached pictures. Sent them this picture and within a couple of hours they got back to me with the information. Turns out it's a harmless/non-venomous Coastal python and safe if left alone. I am very very impressed with the way BSC offer this service to the community and help keep everyone safe. Would highly recommend them to help identify if you see one. Didnt have to call them out but I am sure if they are this efficient helping identify a venemous/non-venemous snake via pictures, they would be extremely professional to come out and catch one if they had to. Thank you BSC.

This is a great service, identifying snakes for people unfamiliar with them. Being from NZ we were very unfamiliar with snake species and when we saw this snake on the beach, a quick google search led us here where we could get the snake identified. The reply was quicker than I expected and we got a link with more information on the type of snake. Glad we were cautious as it was a venomous snake.

Quick response! And correct identification! I walked outside to hang laundry and this fella was waiting for me. I’m from Ohio in America so I’m not exactly snake smart other than knowing to back away. Our laundry area has a doggie door for our pup & 3 cats. After I secured them I went back out to snap a photo and emailed the Snake Catchers. Hearing back from them so promptly put our minds at ease bc we are in a area populated with Brown snakes. The fella is a Lesser Black Whip so not such an urgent threat if it was a Brown snake! The information they provided to me about the snake type was so helpful! I now feel safer and a bit more snakesmart 🐍 Thank you for your help!!

Pest Control costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do pest controllers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on the pest type, how extensive the infestation is, property access and whether follow-up visits are needed. Most pest controllers charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with materials and repeat treatments adding to the total. The prices shown on this page update live to help you compare current rates.
Do pest controllers charge call-out fees?
Many pest controllers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess your property, which is usually separate from labour and materials. After-hours, weekend or emergency attendance often attracts higher rates. It's worth confirming any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do pest controllers need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Pest control work generally must be carried out by a licensed pest controller in every Australian state and territory, and in NSW licensing is administered by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW). Providers should display a valid state pest management licence and often hold industry credentials such as AEPMA membership or PestCert accreditation, public liability insurance and an ABN with GST registration. Many also provide a written service report and chemical usage log after treatment.
