Plumber couldn't fix the toilet leak, and dropped part of the cistern down into the wall. He said we'd need to remove the toilet to get it out. He also gave me the wrong information about the part. He said it was a faulty flushing outlet valve. The quote from RACV Trades was very high, so I ordered the spare part the RACV repairman said was needed from the plumbing supply place we'd originally bought the cistern from 3 years ago. It cost $112. When my own plumber came to install it, he found that it wasn't an outlet valve fault, but an inlet valve fault. He also didn't need to remove the toilet to get the dropped part. So now I have to pay for 2 visits from my plumber as he needs to return with the correct part. And I've wasted money on a non-returnable outlet valve I have no use for. I'm very unhappy with this. Thank goodness I didn't use RACV trades, as they were going to remove my toilet unnecessarily, and had no idea what the problem really was.
