Tyson did a fantastic job and was also polite and friendly. He turned up when he said he would and organised everything without a fuss. His price was fair and I am very happy with his work. I have a large four bedroom house and Tyson painted the entire inside. He was quick and knew exactly what he was doing. It is evident that Tyson has a good deal of experience. He responded promptly to my requests and was helpful with any advice that I asked of him. I have no hesitation recommending Tyson to anyone for their painting jobs. Michael.

We live in a unit in a block of 17. Over a period of 2 years the Strata Committee tried find a painter who would do small repair paint work on most of the windows both inside and outside. We tried three painters one after the other, the first 2, did inspections and gave high quotes but in the end did not want a small fiddly jobs so did not do the work. Finally we found Tyson, he did an inspection, gave a reasonable quote, he did the work and was most respectful of our unit, he took great care to ensure the walls and carpet were protected. I have no hesitation in recommending Tyson. I have advised theStrata Professionals who manage a number of Unit blocks, of his excellent work and respect of our home. Painting costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do painters typically charge?
Painting costs depend on the size of the job, the condition of existing surfaces, and whether the work is interior, exterior or both. Jobs requiring significant preparation such as sanding, filling or priming will generally cost more than a straightforward repaint over sound surfaces. Most painters quote per square metre or per room, with exterior work and multi-storey access typically attracting higher rates. This page shows live pricing for jobs in your area.
Do painters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. In most Australian states and territories, painters carrying out domestic work above a certain value must hold a trade-specific licence or registration. Licensing requirements and thresholds vary by jurisdiction — for example, NSW requires a Contractor Licence for painting work. A licensed painter should be able to provide their licence number on request, and you can verify it with your state's building authority.
How should I prepare my home before painters arrive?
Most painters will handle masking, drop sheets and surface preparation as part of the job, but clearing the area of furniture, wall hangings and fragile items beforehand helps the job run smoothly and may reduce your quote. For exterior work, ensure the painter has clear access to all walls and that garden beds or outdoor furniture are moved back. Discuss any specific concerns like lead paint, mould or moisture damage before work begins so the painter can plan accordingly.
