I arranged 4 quotes for the painting of the exterior of our house. As soon as I met Steve of PrepRite, I felt assured by his knowledge and confidence of the job in hand. We were not disappointed! A first class job, from the thorough preparation through to the finish. Steve is punctual, tidy, has great attention to detail and simply gets on with the job. We could not be happier with the work he did and would highly recommend his services to anyone requiring an excellent painter.

I would highly recommend Steve from PrepRite Painting for house painting services. As an experienced and qualified painter, he provided me with a value-for-money, quality, neat and professional service. I was impressed by his knowledge and application of paints to different features of my house. I found Steve to be cheerful and thoughtful and can say that his work ethic and workmanship is excellent. When answering my questions about the painting process and what was involved, I found his “common sense” approach very helpful - he could always find a solution to any painting issue. Steve’s skill in painting has definitely improved the appearance, presentation and street appeal of my house. Thanks Steve! Sue G

Steve painted all the interior of our house. He has to start calling himself a master painter, his work is very good and his attention to detail is exceptional. I have never seen so many drop sheets and plastic coverings used. We are very happy with our new interior and yes we are recommending him to our friends. John L

Frequently asked questions

How much do painters typically charge?
Painting costs depend on the size of the job, the condition of existing surfaces, and whether the work is interior, exterior or both. Jobs requiring significant preparation such as sanding, filling or priming will generally cost more than a straightforward repaint over sound surfaces. Most painters quote per square metre or per room, with exterior work and multi-storey access typically attracting higher rates. This page shows live pricing for jobs in your area.
Do painters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. In most Australian states and territories, painters carrying out domestic work above a certain value must hold a trade-specific licence or registration. Licensing requirements and thresholds vary by jurisdiction — for example, NSW requires a Contractor Licence for painting work. A licensed painter should be able to provide their licence number on request, and you can verify it with your state's building authority.
How should I prepare my home before painters arrive?
Most painters will handle masking, drop sheets and surface preparation as part of the job, but clearing the area of furniture, wall hangings and fragile items beforehand helps the job run smoothly and may reduce your quote. For exterior work, ensure the painter has clear access to all walls and that garden beds or outdoor furniture are moved back. Discuss any specific concerns like lead paint, mould or moisture damage before work begins so the painter can plan accordingly.
How do I get a quote from PrepRite Painting?
