We have a caravan which had several interior panels which needed painting. Several panels including one directly at the near side of our fridge and inside and outside wardrobes had gone yellow due to (apparently) a bad batch of glue used by the manufacturer of our van. A search revealed a number of other caravans around 2014/15 had experienced a similar reaction. Not a problem I thought to get a painter in. Wrong. Several Google searches produced only one business. We saw them. "Around $4,000". No way. Back to Google, typed in kitchen painters, and my computer screen lit up. First three contacts "Nah mate, we are house painters not caravan painters". Next business on the list: JWP Painting & Property Services, Central Coast. I called the number. A message bank advised he was away, but to leave a message. Barely a day later, and just off an interstate flight, Jaaron Williamson called me. "How can I help?" "Do you paint the interiors of caravans?" I asked. "Haven't done one, but it's a 'paint job' I can do that." Joy oh joy. Jaaron popped in a few days later (he had been crook after his plane flight). From the moment Jaaron called to our home, it was obvious, he was a professional painter. And so he was. He was booked out for over two months but said he would fit us in. And, he did. Completed the job inside a couple of days, even called in on the Saturday after his initial call to start the undercoating. Job finished well before time, complete with four coats of paint ( we did have another bloke in before I was able to contact Jaaron. A fella we had used a number of times for painting and other jobs. His quote was several hundred dollars more than Jaaron's, and he was only doing two coats!) Jaaron along with his young apprentice Alex finished the job this morning, and, fair dinkum, the van looks like new (and) we reckon a helluva better than the original. Nothing was too much trouble for this bloke. A true professional at his craft. We have lined up Jaaron for a couple of much bigger jobs--our balcony; and our main bedroom. My wife and I are thrilled with the wonderful job Jaaron has done on our caravan. We would no hesitation in recommending Jaaron for any painting job; and we can tell you fellow caravanners, if you're looking for a damn good painter to paint your van's interior, Jaaron is your man. And, a top bloke he is too. More than happy to answer any questions you may have re painting. Alan & Jackie Mitchell. Umina Beach. 10.3.26.

Jaaron resealed a 50 Sq. M uncovered deck on the eastern side of Pearl Beach. Pressure washing and sanding followed by 3 coats Cabot’s acquadeck. Quick and efficient, he moved the table etc off the deck, cleaned, sanded coated and put furniture back, all in less than a week. Thoroughly recommend him.

Painting costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do painters typically charge?
Painting costs depend on the size of the job, the condition of existing surfaces, and whether the work is interior, exterior or both. Jobs requiring significant preparation such as sanding, filling or priming will generally cost more than a straightforward repaint over sound surfaces. Most painters quote per square metre or per room, with exterior work and multi-storey access typically attracting higher rates. This page shows live pricing for jobs in your area.
Do painters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. In most Australian states and territories, painters carrying out domestic work above a certain value must hold a trade-specific licence or registration. Licensing requirements and thresholds vary by jurisdiction — for example, NSW requires a Contractor Licence for painting work. A licensed painter should be able to provide their licence number on request, and you can verify it with your state's building authority.
How should I prepare my home before painters arrive?
Most painters will handle masking, drop sheets and surface preparation as part of the job, but clearing the area of furniture, wall hangings and fragile items beforehand helps the job run smoothly and may reduce your quote. For exterior work, ensure the painter has clear access to all walls and that garden beds or outdoor furniture are moved back. Discuss any specific concerns like lead paint, mould or moisture damage before work begins so the painter can plan accordingly.
Does JWP Painting & Property Services have a verified ABN?
