We had a nightmare situation with our pantry door (new adjustable roller ball was too tight in the old strike) Silverfern locksmiths tried to troubleshoot over the phone to save us having to get someone out which was so kind! Unfortunately it turned into a MUCH bigger job 😕 but this was tackled with professionalism and some grit and determination by the locksmith. Am so thankful for your help! Highly recommend

Credit where credit is due! Had a nightmare with my car over the weekend and was stranded away from home when key would not turn in the ignition. Called Silverfern and discussed the issue which we suspected to be a faulty ignition barrel and he even offered to attend that afternoon. We agreed he would come the next day, he had the parts on hand, and had the parts swapped over and car running within the hour! Great service from a friendly lad and I appreciate the clean work! Cheers!

Thanks again for your help today, after I managed to snap the very end of my car key off in the ignition barrel... Very impressed by how you were able to extract the ignition barrel from the car - take the barrel itself apart to extract the broken key part - and then put all of it back together again... Much appreciated! Thanks.

Dion tackled a tricky and potentially expensive problem with my car ignition. He fixed the issue and saved me a lot of money. Would highly recommend his work ethic and service.

Frequently asked questions

How much do locksmiths typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the job — a simple key cut or rekey is usually much less than emergency entry or full hardware replacement. This page shows live pricing for local providers to help you compare options. Many locksmiths charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate and materials, and after-hours or emergency work generally attracts higher rates.
Do locksmiths charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials and may apply even for quick or small jobs. It's worth confirming any call-out or minimum charge when getting quotes.
Do locksmiths need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Locksmithing is a licensed occupation across Australia, and in NSW licences are issued by the NSW Police Force — Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED). You should expect a provider to display a valid state security licence number and to hold industry credentials such as MLAA, LGA or ASIAL membership, a Certificate III in Locksmithing, an ABN with GST registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
Does Silverfern Locksmiths have a verified ABN?
Yes. Silverfern Locksmiths has completed ABN verification on SureQuote.
How do I get a quote from Silverfern Locksmiths?
