We found Paul on Instagram and loved his unique tropical portfolio. The quality of his designs and drawings were outstanding and made handover to a landscape construction team effortless. Without ever stepping foot on our property in Sydney, he has designed a stunning space creating a private oasis. We have since recently finished our landscape construction and have had dozens of people stop us to ask who did our landscape design. His work increased the value of the home considerably. Highly recommend.

Paul was a fabulous designer to work with. He came out to the property during construction and took the time to understand our space, the surrounding buildings and gardens, and also our intent for how we want to use our garden. The design was unique and worked perfectly with both the heritage facade and modern addition to our home. Paul also has established relationships with installers and suppliers who work with Paul to ensure the job is completed as designed. His meticulous attention to detail and passion for the landscape shine through in all communications.

Paul has a wonderful talent for capturing the essence of our vision. He took the time to listen to our ideas and dreams, and then skillfully translated them into a cohesive and harmonious design plan. His ability to understand our needs and preferences truly sets him apart. The presentation on the Computer of the plan was wonderful in allowing us to truly visualise the plan. The attention to detail exhibited by Paul Alexander was great. Every aspect of the design, from the selection of plants and materials to the layout and arrangement, reflects this keen eye for aesthetics and functionality. He kept us involved throughout the entire process, providing regular updates and seeking our input. We look so forward progressing his plans into reality with our local team of builders.

Paul has been amazing. We gave him a brief of what we wanted and he delivered a landscape design exceeding our expectations. His renderings were very high quality which enabled us to see what the final landscape would look like against our house. It was a pleasurable experience and we highly recommend him.

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?

Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.

Do landscapers charge call-out fees?

Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.

When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?

Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
