I booked City Handyman as I had a few tricky jobs and saw their great reviews. They lived up to their reputation... quick initial response and professional and friendly follow-up by Jon, who came by to check what was needed and gave me top tips to prepare for the work. He finished the jobs quickly with no fuss and I'm thrilled with the end result (shelving / filling and painting of trims around double glazed doors and windows / fitting a few other items onto my brick walls) at a very reasonable price. Wouldn't hesitate to use City Handyman again!

We've booked City Handyman twice to install our wall-mounted cat climbing units. Wren is professional, punctual and worked cleanly and efficiently. Thank you, Wren and City Handyman!

City Handyman recently installed a parcel box for us, and the whole process couldn’t have been smoother. From the initial quote to booking the job, and then George coming out to install the box - everything was easy and seamless. We’ll definitely be using them again for any future handyman needs. Thanks again!

Excellent service from City Handyman. Josh repaired doorknobs, changed lamps, and replaced our toilet seat. He also provided helpful explanations about lamp specifications (we have no clue that lamp brightness and lamp colour temperature are different). Highly recommended for quality workmanship and professional service.

Derek from City Handyman did a fantastic job fixing some broken tiles, replacing the old and torn flyscreen on my door, installing a new toilet seat, and hanging some wooden Venetian blinds. I had a strict deadline for this work to be finished, and the team made sure everything was completed on time. Very highly recommended.

Frequently asked questions

How much do handymen typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on the task, its complexity and how long the job takes. Simple single-visit repairs or flatpack assembly are typically less than multi-item or specialist work that requires extra trades. This page shows live pricing to help you compare quotes and identify cost drivers.
Do handymen charge call-out fees?
Many handymen charge a call-out fee to attend a property, which is often separate from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance or weekend work commonly attracts higher rates. It's a good idea to confirm whether the call-out is included in the quote or charged separately.
What qualifications should I look for in a handyman?
Handymen are generally unlicensed for small jobs, so look for industry affiliations such as the Handyman and Home Maintenance Association, Housing Industry Association (HIA) membership or Master Builders involvement for larger-scope work. Check they hold an ABN, adequate public liability insurance and can provide a clear written quote separating labour and materials. For jobs that become large or high-value, confirm whether a state contractor licence or builder registration may be required.
How do I get a quote from City Handyman?
City Handyman lists through their website on this profile, so you can contact them directly for pricing and availability. Share a short scope and photos to get a faster quote.
