Eugene & his team are just the best. We had a landscaper go awol on us (contracted by the pool company to install filter etc & then said he could do a water feature & landscaping for us… that was a disaster on both counts!) Eugene was then recommended to us & came in & could see the vision we had & he & his team set to achieving it. The new garden included : Fantastic rock wall & water feature into the pool, all irrigation system in 4 sections, stepping stones, lawn, mulch, plants, (see photos) Sean, Matt, Tom (part of his team) were terrific to deal with. They made sure we were happy with each step of the way, made great suggestions. Could not have asked for more polite, knowledgeable & enthusiastic young men. We are so happy with our new garden. We’d be happy to show anyone our new garden , & everyone who sees it, is saying how fabulous it looks. Can’t thank you enough.

Absolutely Brilliant! I discovered that my backyard was riddled with the roots of one of the world's most invasive weeds - "Tree of Heaven". Please look it up and beware if you have a Neighbour with it!!! I had 40+ tons of grass and dirt excavated out so that I could remove the rest of the roots from this obnoxious weed that spreads up to 20 meters from its source and was throughout my backyard and established garden beds. We had 7 different neighbours affected with it. I called 4 different landscapers to see their thoughts on how they could bring my vision for the backyard into reality. The job entailed 2 different types of artificial surfaces. The first being approx. 60 square meters of putting surface laser levelled flat at the back of the property. The second approx. 200 square meters of 40mm pile artificial grass to create a wonderful play area for the family to do badminton and to enjoy the green of a freshly laid plush lawn. Many meters of steel edging to border existing garden beds and replacing plinth boards under boundary fences, bluestone paving plus foundations, PVC piping, dismantling and rebuilding of a retaining wall across the backyard including a new concrete foundation. Challenge enough - no, with an underground water tank plus two pits that necessitated risers on all 3 elements to have access at the new levels. this job was technical. I had only 2 landscapers who believed that they could do the job, only 1 could do everything themselves offering a turnkey result and that was Escape Landscaping. Eugene the owner produced the quote, and I accepted it. Jessica his administration manger kept in touch to notify me on the start date or change to it based upon the weather. Eugene introduced me to his foreman that he appointed for this job; his name was Mattie. As this was a retro construction/reconstruction job, small items would come up and Mattie during the 23 days of construction would keep me up to date with anything that eventuated giving me possible outcomes that he and Eugene had come up with. Eugene overseeing the job was fantastic with his knowledge and resources he had. Whilst doing the work we also discussed with Eugene the thoughts of adding to the scope of work - not a problem. Mattie, I said to him "you missed his calling - you should have been a civil engineer", but he said he loves landscaping with an OCD way of doing things, so that the result ends up done well. With the final detail within Escapes scope of work completed, I can say - I am elated. Thank you, Eugene, Mattie, Tom, Callum, Josh, Sean and Jessica. Fabulous result :)

Eugene, Sean and the team were fantastic. They are a slick operation with a problem solving mentality, they always had a solution to every problem. They worked fast and were very tidy, always respectful of our privacy and space. Eugene was upfront with any variations and always provided a quote in advance for us to make an informed decision. I would highly recommend them!

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
