We've had the pleasure of having our backyard maintenance by Lucky's grass and Hedges, and I must say we are extremely happy with the service. The couple (Lucky and Shirin) truly complements each other's work. Our backyard is saying "I can finally breathe!". Not only did they do this job, but also told us about all the premium plants which we had but were oblivious to! You'd be glad that you're in good hands. Very happy to support the business with my review.

We had Lucky and Shirin for our front yard landscaping design. It was not just the great service they provided, but it was also a knowledge-augmenting experience for me. I must commend their job for various reasons. 1. Eye for detail – Lucky was patient enough to answer all my curious questions - whether it was about transplanting the garden grown plants into pots or how much watering was needed for what specific plant, and how frequently they needed watering. Apart from the DOs, he is well-aware of the DONTs. I believe that is what separates a professional from an amateur. As an example, he showed me how not to do a weed mat depending on the purpose – using it for growing plants or simply putting rocks on top. Furthermore, he also demonstrated how to safely cut / collect the thorny parts of the blueberry plant. 2. Personal & professional boundaries – We have been friends, but I must admit he has maintained the fine balance of personal and professional boundaries. Although I wouldn’t mind cleaning the garage myself, I appreciate Lucky’s proactiveness in informing me that he’d clean up the garage after finishing the job as it had been used for sanding the timber sleepers. He remained consciously aware when to treat me as a friend and when as a client. 3. Learning – During this whole landscaping project, I’ve learnt a lot of things from him. Even though I had, at one point, decided to do this project myself over a period of weeks, I’m glad that I chose to use his services for various reasons. It was much quicker for him to do it. He knew what he was doing, and I believe I have probably saved myself from bursting an underground pipe with the pickaxe if I had done the job myself! I’m glad that this job has been in the right hands, and delighted to support this small local business.

Not only did he help last minute. He gave me progress photos the whole time. He went above and beyond and was hugely respectful and very helpful. Even though he had 5 days to do the job, he did asap in a 40 degree day! Work ethic out of this world. Wish more people were like him

I cannot thank Lucky's Grass and Hedges enough, for the enormous job he took on for me and at the last minute! With a smile and friendly persona even in 30 degree heat he tackled our monster of a garden area. I highly recommend Lucky if you need your gardens deconstructed or just normal routine maintenance. Absolutely brilliant job ❤❤❤❤❤

Landscaping costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do landscapers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on job type and complexity — a tidy-up is typically much less than a full makeover or structural retaining wall. Materials, labour hours, site access and any required design or engineering work usually drive the price. This page shows live pricing to help you compare current rates.
Do landscapers charge call-out fees?
Most landscapers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Hourly labour rates and after-hours or weekend attendance are often charged at higher rates. It’s worth confirming any minimum fees and what the call-out covers when requesting quotes.
When do landscapers need a licence in Australia?
Landscapers typically need a contractor licence or builder registration when work involves structural or building elements such as engineered retaining walls, footings or major excavation. Providers who undertake structural work will usually display a valid state contractor licence or builder registration, while smaller softscape-only jobs often do not require that registration. Check that any landscaper doing structural work holds the appropriate licence or registration.
