I contacted Leigh on short notice to investigate an unusually high electricity bill. He came out the very next day, despite some challenges—including no access to the switchboard room and an unresponsive tenant in the unit. Leigh was incredibly thorough, checking everything he possibly could to identify the issue. Throughout the process, he clearly explained what he was doing and why, keeping me fully informed every step of the way. Leigh truly went above and beyond. He even returned the following day to inspect the premises internally once access was granted. Leigh is really is the most honest and knowledgeable electrician I have ever delt with, most of the others are liars and thieves, but Leigh is an exception to the rule. It was clear he genuinely wanted to help, especially after seeing how distressed I was about the bill. Leigh charged a fraction what he could have specially considering he had to come out a second time the next day to get access to the unit. Thanks Leigh you’re a man amongst men.

Definitely recommend Leigh from CME for all electrical work. He was informative, reliable and skilled in his trade. Leigh answered all my questions and gave advice on suitable products during our renovations. He found some dodgy work in the house we had purchased, he first showed us and then talked us through options to ensure it was updated and fixed to code. He was always on time and great with communication.

We highly recommend Cooma Monaro Electrical based on the outstanding service that Leigh Hain has given us in the last two years on several projects: New board and meters for the main house, setting up the house for future adoption of solar power, new sub-board and complete rewiring of an adjoining cottage. On every occasion, Leigh took the time to understand our long-term objective and changes that we might bring to our place; he offered various options, explained the trade-offs and helped us make the right decision. He is thorough, detailed, extremely safety-focused, and delivers a highly professional quality job. He is very responsive to calls and messages. Recently, our whole street was blacked-out through a massive power surge. Leigh responded quickly to our emergency call and spend the whole evening assisting us but also neighbours in assessing their situation and liaising with the power supplier. Outstanding support.

Frequently asked questions

How much do electricians typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the job type, how much fault-finding is needed, and whether switchboard or circuit work is involved. Electricians typically charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, and after-hours attendance usually attracts higher rates. Check the live pricing on this page to compare local quotes.
Do electricians charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and are usually charged separately to labour and materials to cover travel and the initial assessment. Some providers may also have a minimum charge for small jobs, so it's worth confirming any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do electricians need a licence in Australia?
Yes — electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician in every Australian state and territory, and in NSW licensing is through NSW Fair Trading. Electricians should display a valid state electrical licence number on quotes and advertising and will usually issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety on completion of work.
