Read moreI used Ken Pham to replace my fourteen year old solar panels. He replaced my twenty old panels with thirty Jinko 475 watt panels (total 14.2kw). I was originally going to get the Fox ESS EQ4800 batteries but after discussing with Ken, I upgraded to the recently released CQ6 batteries. The higher density means a smaller stack for more capacity (47.92kwh). The eight stack pack fitted the federal government's 'Cheaper Battery' rebate, which is reducing in May 2026. On top of that, Ken suggested going from a 10kw inverter to the larger 15kw Smart inverter. With all the sun here in Australia (Sydney), the bigger inverter means no 'clipping'. My 14.2kw solar array has peaked at 14.9kw, and if I had a 10kw inverter, I would be losing anything over 10kw. Not a big deal but the cost of upsizing is small and the inverter affects flow of energy back and forth between the battery, panels and the grid. My main switchboard is on the western side of the house and the previous inverter was destroyed by the harsh sun. The panel was all cracked, broken and unreadable. Ken ran cabling so my new 3 phase inverter and battery are on the eastern side of the house. Now they are in the shade of the eaves by 11am. All exposed cables are either covered by flexible conduit or heat shrinked for added protection. Ken and his crew did the job in one long day. It works perfectly and now I find myself wasting energy as my panels create too much. My daily summer average usage has gone from 25kwh to 70kwh on a summer day. Cooler summer days are actually more productive than hot 35 degree days. Best day I produced 101kwh and the rainiest cloudy day only 16kwh. Average is 80 kwh. So now I start the air conditioning from lunchtime and i haven't used a drop of power from the grid since. I have signed up for Amber and hope that works out. I would recommend Ken as he will tell you straight. I asked for more panels and he said I had enough (even though I have room on the roof). He did the job without waiting for weeks. p.s. I see some photos from other people's installs where wires are running down into switches and into batteries. Ken has made sure wiring keeps everything dry.
