I phone up Dowell Bassendean Branch and enquired about sliding window parts. When I came in later, Sheila and Jane were very helpful and provided me with the parts I needed for the weeping holes and stopper I needed. They even showed me how to install it myself from the showroom they have on the floor. They are lovely people and very easy to deal with. I was really grateful that they were able to sort out what I need where I already spent few days phoning from different window shops to no avail.

In general the jobs take a bit of time to get booked, however the company has improved their customer service since 2024 and takes better care of their clients. Good communication and friendly team. Two windows replaced in only a few hours. Well done. So far happy with the result. The guys left all tidy and clean. The windows look and work as they should. I am happy to recommend Dowell Windows. The new team is a big improvement.

Frequently asked questions

How much do door installers typically charge?

Costs vary widely depending on whether the job is a simple adjustment, a standard internal or external door install, or work involving custom doors or frame modifications. Quotes commonly combine a call-out fee, hourly labour and materials, with after-hours or emergency work usually attracting higher rates. The live pricing shown on this page reflects current regional rates and the typical job bands for each type of work.

Do door installers charge call-out fees?

Many door installers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, and this is usually separate from labour and materials. Call-out fees are common in the rate card, though they may sometimes be waived if substantial work proceeds; it’s worth confirming this when requesting a quote. After-hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates.

Do door installers need a licence in Australia?

Yes. Door installers generally need a contractor licence or registration in every Australian state and territory; in NSW the relevant authority is the Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). Look for a valid state contractor licence or registration displayed on quotes and advertising, an ABN with active registration and appropriate public liability insurance.
