I’ve had Tony and his crew work on my house for the last 3 years. I wouldn’t go to anyone else. He is very obliging down to earth and friendly he knew my dogs were part of my family and was very careful to always make sure gates were closed or doors were shut so they couldn’t get out. Now the work is top notch. My house only gets renovated by Tony and his team I truly would recommend his company. He’s reliable and i trust him to do the job properly.

Tony was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was able to transform my old shed into a pool house and the end product was the highest of quality. Tony explained to me the scope of works and the time line he was working to. He was able to finish the project on time and we are very happy with the end result. He has great communication skills, his work is excellent and is a true gentleman. Zen Improvements thank you for transforming our backyard! It looks fantastic.

Zen Improvements replaced a huge deck at my house in Eden. They removed all the old rotted timber boards, repaired some unexpected structure issues & replaced with beautiful composite. They were fast, efficient and I was very pleasantly surprised with the total cost! Much less than I expected. Thank you Zen, love the new deck !

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?

Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.

Do carpenters charge call-out fees?

Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.

Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?

Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.

How do I get a quote from Zen Improvements?
