Marty knows what he's doning and handled a few different tasks with ease - including installing and anchoring our shade sail, rescreening a flyscreen door and some carpentry to stabilise one of our rear sliding doors. 10 out of 10 - I can really recommend him (and Henry!),

Marty is an amazing skilled thinking handyman. He installed a smart lock for me and made a beautiful hook rack for my wall to hand towels on. Absolutely everything that could have gone wrong went wrong, but he was so calm and problem solved through every step with amazing honest communication. He and his beautiful bird will certainly be our go to handyman!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I couldn’t be happier with Martyn’s work! I had three other carpenters come to look at my stairs — all said it couldn’t be fixed or would be too complicated. Then Martyn came along and did an amazing job. He worked quickly, charged a fair price, and the results are fantastic. My stairs feel solid again and there’s no more noise when walking on them! He was friendly, professional, and really knew what he was doing. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and honest carpenter. Thank you, Martyn! 🙏🏻

Frequently asked questions

How much do carpenters typically charge?
Carpentry costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple trim or door hanging is usually less than internal framing, small outdoor structures or timber repairs that require more labour and materials. Most carpenters charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, with after-hours work attracting higher rates; this page shows live local pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do carpenters charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common and typically cover travel and the initial assessment. These fees are usually charged separately from hourly labour and materials. After-hours attendance is often charged at a higher rate, so confirm any call-out or minimum fees when requesting quotes.
Do carpenters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Carpentry work is generally required to be carried out by a licensed tradesperson in every Australian state and territory. In NSW, licences are administered by Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should expect providers to display a valid state building or trade licence on quotes and advertising, and to hold an ABN, public liability insurance and industry memberships such as HIA or Master Builders.
