Steve was exceptionally thorough in his inspection of our new home build in The Gables Box Hill. He conducted the structural pre lining and PCI inspections. It was apparent that he was extremely proficient and had a thorough understanding of BCA requirements. Steve was able to offer advice on the best course of action to address any defect issues with the builder, identifying even the smallest defects that I wouldn't have noticed. I would highly recommend My Home Inspections and suggest they are incredible value when considering the wealth of knowledge our inspector had as a qualified builder and many years in the industry.

Cannot recommend My Home Inspection enough. Stephen attended our owner builder site the same day as our request to complete a frame inspection. His knowledge and skill in identifying issues to address to ensure we were structurally sound with a very old little cottage amazed me. Stephen sent the information for my builder to address and as a result we have kept to schedule with the knowledge we are stucturally sound. Thanks again Stephen…….

Frequently asked questions

How much do building inspectors typically charge?
Costs vary depending on the type of inspection, property size, report detail and travel required. Many building inspectors charge an hourly rate plus a call-out fee, with higher rates for after-hours attendance. This page shows live pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do building inspectors charge call-out fees?
Yes — many building inspectors charge a call-out fee to attend and assess a property. That fee typically covers travel and the initial assessment and is separate from the hourly rate and any report costs. It's sensible to confirm any call-out or minimum charges when requesting quotes.
Do building inspectors need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Building inspection and certifying work generally needs to be carried out by a licensed or registered building inspector or certifier under state and territory rules. In New South Wales the responsible authority is the NSW Building Commission (formerly NSW Fair Trading). Look for providers who display valid state registration, an ABN with GST registration and appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
