  Exceptional Quality and Communication – Murphy James Builders Delivered Beyond Expectations My wife and I recently completed a multi-property build in Ballarat with Murphy James Builders, and to say we’re rapt with the outcome is an understatement. From the very first engagement with Dan—discussing scope and receiving their professional project pack—through to handover with Tye and every stage in between, we simply cannot fault them or their team. From day one, the quality of work stood out. The craftsmanship was exceptional—from structural framing right down to the finishing touches. Their attention to detail was evident throughout, which was particularly important to us as we were living and working remotely in WA during the planning and early construction stages. The trust we placed in Dan and Tye was repaid many times over. Every join, every finish, every detail reflected genuine care and precision. Communication was seamless. Dan and Tye led the job personally and stayed actively involved every day. They were always reachable, answered questions promptly, and kept us informed at every stage. They also connected us with Sarah Bourke (interior designer, who was able to add soul to the build with careful and clever material selections that tied it all in). This level of transparency was especially reassuring when variations arose. Part of the build included remodeling an existing dwelling over 70 years old, and two key opportunities presented themselves outside the initial scope—one structural and another to create additional storage. Their proactive, solution-oriented approach delivered great outcomes at fair prices, enhancing the overall project. The experience felt refreshingly personal. Dan and Tye limit their workload to ensure every client gets their full focus. They genuinely care about the homeowner’s experience, not just the end product. That commitment shines through in every interaction. In years to come, when it’s time to build our forever home, we will engage Murphy James Builders without hesitation. In summary: Transparent processes, exceptional quality, and respectful, engaging communication. A 10/10 team. Also doesn't hurt that Dan and Tye are genuinely good humans.   We assigned Murphy James to build our architectural family home in Brown Hill. From our first interaction with Murphy James which included a welcome pack delivered to our front door, we experienced nothing but professionalism. Having an eye for fine detail ourselves, their build quality exceeded all of our expectations. Their communication was great, keeping us informed throughout the build process. Tye always made time to meet with us if we had any questions or to go over any last modifications and the whole team were polite and always respectful of our property. We are extremely proud to show off our home and very thankful we found such a quality builder to take on the project. We would definitely use Murphy James again for any future projects and recommend them to anyone looking for quality workmanship.

  Murphy James builders completed renovation of three bathrooms in our house in Hepburn in June. The whole process from the first quote to completion was very well organised and we were very happy with the whole experience. Communication was always prompt and clear, Tye always answered our questions in detail and took the time to explain processes. Tye was also happy to incorporate specific detailed requests on fit and finish, as well as a few modifications and the quality of the work in the finished tiled bathrooms was without fault. The work was efficient and finished ahead of schedule. We are very happy with the result and would definitely use them again.

  We were recommended to Murphy James for our off-grid house in Drummond through an industry colleague who had done extensive research on good quality builders in the area. Our whole experience has been fantastic – from our initial enquiry through the website, to Daniel to finalise the pricing and to Tye throughout the build. Tye was always across every aspect of the build and was always able to answer our queries, and his ability to forward plan for all trades ensured the project was delivered efficiently. Another aspect that stood out for us was the calibre of their team and all the subcontractors working on the project – we found them all to be knowledgeable and helpful, and always turned up when they were expected. This is clearly a sign of a good management from Murphy James which is so important to how efficiently a project runs. As our project was a holiday house, we were not onsite that regularly. However, Tye always managed to arrange all the relevant trades to attend so we could make the most of our visits. We also found their approach to variations to be incredibly reasonable and collaborative, which we really appreciated. Overall we couldn’t recommend Murphy James more highly – they were cost competitive, efficient, organised and overall really great guys to deal with.
