We are extremely happy with the results of our recent Apartment renovation, it looks amazing! Being remote and not able to be on-site for the renovation, we were initially a little nervous, but meeting and working with Darren completely put our minds at ease. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding and care and attention to detail went into every aspect of the renovation. Darren’s honest and responsive communication throughout the project was excellent, and this made the whole process smooth and stress free from a distance. We truly appreciate the flexibility shown when we needed to make a few modifications to the original plan, and renovation was still completed with in the very tight agreed time frame. We highly recommend Oke Building for anyone looking for a skilled, reliable, and trustworthy professional with excellent communication skills, that delivers top quality workmanship.

Darren Oke managed the building of our garage which was a complex development project. The project involved a six metre diameter car turntable and required building into the side of the hill and up from the roadway throughout subtropical weather conditions. The building works required council liaison to rework approved plans and structural building and management of our Inclinator lift provided by PR King. Darren Oke was supported by his team of specialist subcontractors which were all very friendly and approachable throughout the construction project. The building project was completed with Ballina Shire Council releasing the Occupation Certificate. We are very happy with the result which functions extremely well offering us great convenience.Highly recommend Darren and his craftsmanship, professional service and attention to detail. Very happy customers.

Frequently asked questions

How much do builders typically charge?

Builder costs vary widely depending on the job type and complexity. Minor repairs are generally much less than extensions, small builds or structural alterations that need foundations, framing or specialist input. Most quotes include a call‑out fee plus labour and materials, and the page shows live pricing to help you compare options.

Do builders charge call-out fees?

Call‑out fees are common and typically cover travel and an initial inspection or assessment. This fee is usually separate from hourly labour and materials, and after‑hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates. Ask whether a call‑out or minimum charge applies when requesting quotes.

Do builders need a licence in Australia?

Yes. Building work generally needs to be carried out by a licensed builder in every state and territory, and NSW builders are regulated by NSW Fair Trading. Builders should be able to provide their state builder/contractor licence number and show appropriate insurances and ABN/GST registration. In Victoria, domestic building insurance is required above a state threshold for certain contracts.
