Hakuna Homes made my 1st attempt at building a home at the age of 70, a stress free, exciting experience for me. The crew walked me through all the stages, step by step. I was very impressed with their professional approach and respectful attitude. My dream home was completed within the estimated timeframe, and the overall finish is exceptional. To say I am very happy that I chose to build with Hakuna would be an understatement. I would thoroughly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a trouble free, ‘No Worries’ building project. Thank you to all the team. Wendy Hansen

I had never built a house before so I had no idea what to expect. In fact, I had numerous people with horror experiences try and talk me out of it! But from the very first meeting, Hakuna Homes listened to what I envisaged for my house and worked with me to make it a reality. The process was hassle free. I was informed at every step of the planning and building process. All trades that were used throughout the build are exceptional at their craft and their work is impeccable. It turns out, Hakuna Homes didn’t just build me a house, they built my family a home. I have had compliments from family and friends on the quality of the build and the design of the home. I can not recommend the team at Hakuna Homes enough. Thankyou for all you have done to build my family an incredible home.

NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION....highly recommended! Thanks to Trevor Burns and his team our big move from Sydney went smoothly. We decided to buy some land and build a new home on the NSW mid north coast and went to Trevor’s group to see what could be done. On all counts our expectations were met and exceeded! We were professionally guided through the design and approval stages and consulted the whole way through to ensure we got the home we wanted. Construction began quickly and the site foreman Luke communicated with us throughout the process. The quality and finish of our completed home is outstanding. What we most valued was the personal touch and focus based thinking. We now have the house we want at a good price, so we are very happy. Thank you, Trevor, and the team! Geoff and Colleen Cohen

Communication and trust are always an essential part of any relationship. Akuna homes certainly demonstrates both these qualities. The exemplary workmanship and craftsmanship combined with honesty and reliability really was demonstrated throughout our build. The understanding of our impatience and the desire to get the job done created life long friendships between us and our builder, carpenters and all tradies. We would thoroughly and honestly recommend Trevor and his team in any future build with your dream home or renovations. Paul & Heidi

Frequently asked questions

How much do builders typically charge?

Builder costs vary widely depending on the job type and complexity. Minor repairs are generally much less than extensions, small builds or structural alterations that need foundations, framing or specialist input. Most quotes include a call‑out fee plus labour and materials, and the page shows live pricing to help you compare options.

Do builders charge call-out fees?

Call‑out fees are common and typically cover travel and an initial inspection or assessment. This fee is usually separate from hourly labour and materials, and after‑hours or weekend attendance often attracts higher rates. Ask whether a call‑out or minimum charge applies when requesting quotes.

Do builders need a licence in Australia?

Yes. Building work generally needs to be carried out by a licensed builder in every state and territory, and NSW builders are regulated by NSW Fair Trading. Builders should be able to provide their state builder/contractor licence number and show appropriate insurances and ABN/GST registration. In Victoria, domestic building insurance is required above a state threshold for certain contracts.
