    We had a great experience with DMC throughout our build. As first-time renovators, Doug and the team were patient and took the time to explain things clearly at every stage. Joel was always available and super responsive, and he kept us updated on progress throughout the build. What really stood out was the care and pride DMC took in their work. It was clear they genuinely wanted a good quality outcome, not just to “get the job done.” Ben was our site manager and his attention to detail was truly excellent. When unexpected issues came up (as they often do during renovations), DMC worked with us to find practical solutions, which gave us a lot of confidence along the way. DMC works with an excellent group of specialist trades who demonstrated the same level of professionalism and pride in their work. We are really happy living in our beautifully renovated home, and would recommend DMC to other home owners.

    We are absolutely thrilled with the finished product delivered by DMC. Doug, Joel, Ben, and the whole DMC team brought extensive experience, knowledge, and skill to our major project. Our 1918 federation style brick house was fully restored, masterfully reinstating elements of the original house such as the stain glass front door and brick exterior. And with elements that could not be restored, DMC sourced materials that allowed the integrity of the original house to be maintained. The extension component includes a modern living space, kitchen, butler’s pantry, dining space, pool, and outdoor BBQ/entertainment area. DMC matched the high standard of finishes to all aspects of this extension. All the DMC team were generous with their time which allowed first time builders like us to better understand each component of the project. DMC have amazing attention to detail, the communication throughout the 12 months construction was fantastic and the project was delivered on time. We have had the most enjoyable and rewarding journey with DMC and would highly recommend having a chat with Doug about your project. Thank you again DMC Building Group! Helen.

    We engaged Doug, Joel, and the DMC team for a major redesign and construction of our 30-year-old timber house on a steep block on the Northern Beaches in 2024. Based on our experience, we would recommend DMC for similar, somewhat complex projects. The customer care experience was paramount; they were always clear and easy to deal with on the contractual and paperwork side of things. The building work was complex, made more so by us living in part of the house while they did the work, which was a 6-month contract. The on-site staff, trades, and third parties were respectful, considerate, clean, and tidy. We were kept fully informed of matters as they arose, of which there were more than a few due to the age and original build of our house. Discussions around variations were transparent, frank, and easy to understand. The attention to detail and quality of work were exceptional. They were flexible about some of our design “quirks.” The role of site manager undertaken by Matt was exceptional and critical in keeping us informed and the project on track to quality and time. We would be happy to accommodate visits to see the quality of work. The care even extended to coming to provide assistance after the storm in July, which was post-completion and completely unexpected. Steve & Suzi Bilgola

    Doug, Joel and the team at DMC have been outstanding in completing the renovation and first floor additions to our family home in Drummoyne. From helping us to get DA approval through to completion of the project the team were outstanding. They were extremely professional and well organised throughout and the exceptional project management skills meant the project was well organised from day 1 to handover. Not only did they finish the job earlier than the contracted date, they managed to do so during a supply chain crisis and had us in for Xmas as promised. I would definitely recommend DMC for anyone wanting high quality, trustworthy, professional and well organised builders.

    We had Doug, Joel and their teams completely renovate our 1950's weatherboard house. Their teams were incredibly helpful and professional, we had an incredible working relationship. We are two people who'd never done anything like this before, we felt like we were helped along the way. Every step of the way they explained what was happening and what would be needed from us. They were very much apart of ensuring our vision for our family home came to life. Not just throughout the build but also the aftercare. Anything that needed a little adjustment after moving back in, they've been attentive and helpful. We'd absolutely recommended DMC. Building for anyone looking for quality, professional and affordable builders.

    DMC Building was recommended to us through a work colleague and so we contacted them for a big renovation project we have been planning for about 5 years. It took about 3 years to get the DA and that seemed like the easy part to what was to come. We were renovating an old 6m frontage cottage in a heritage suburb of Rozelle. We have approached 4 builders. First two told us that unless we were prepared to spend over half a million dollars they weren’t even ready to give us a quote. DMC Building (Doug) took a different approach, he asked me if we were OK for him to bring trades through to look at the job, and that is how our relationship started. Doug put a very detailed quote together as a result. Another thing we really liked about how Doug approached the project is that nothing was a problem, everything had a solution. To me there were some challenges which I just had no idea how they would get realised but Doug seemed to have a lot of experience and wasn't phased at all to what seem to be very difficult issues (E.g. 0 boundary work, counter levering the existing cottage, storm water, excavation, etc.) A builder would normally just estimate and after winning the job then get actual quotes. Doug knew we were serious about starting this project and so he knew if he invested the time our choice was going to be very easy and he was right. We chose Doug without hesitation and so the project began. We divided the project into 3 phases, each costing about $150K and that allowed us to source the funds and have a checkpoint if we couldn’t commit to the next phase. Doug also involved his engineer who reworked the project in order to save us about $50K. No building project will ever go smoothly, and definitely not one in a place like Rozelle. We hit a number of issues, biggest one being the rubble that lied underneath the house which cause a need to completely modify the footings plans and cost an extra $20K in the end. Doug knew the impact this was going to have on the budget and did everything he could to minimise the variation to a point where he forfeited his builders margin to reduce the cost. We were so grateful to Doug for this. Another part of Doug’s responsibilities was navigating the sea of paperwork and compliance that comes with a project like this. What seemed to be an impossible task, to Doug, was just another day in the office. The testament of our confidence and trust in DMC and Doug came when situation in Sydney started to change with growing infections and COVID. We were living with my in-laws but decided to go to Queensland to escape the pending lockdowns. We ended up living in North Queensland for over 6 month while Doug was successfully navigating the challenges that NSW Government would throw at him. During that time I was in almost daily contact with Joel (Site Forman). DMC uses an online system where they upload daily logs off work done, future work planning and loads of photos which allowed us to keep an eye out on the project remotely. Joel was and still is a friend. Joel is what I would call a Doug’s right hand man, he is the guy that makes things happen. I remember then Joel contacted me to let me know that the stairs as designed by the Architect did not comply with the BCA and needed redesigning. If it wasn’t for Joel’s tireless attention to detail it would have been a very expensive exercise. As we were nearing the end of the project we realised we weren’t going to be able to finance it to the end and Doug was very accommodating, we descoped, and he even allowed us a payment plan of the last $20K. We have now finished the project and Doug has come back to issue the OC. I look back at when we first started this project and how gullible I was, and after receiving the DA I just didn’t think I would ever realise it till DMC, Doug and Joel came along. They are truly unique in their approach, very trustworthy and hard working. I would not hesitate to recommended them to anyone with the highest regard. Thank you DMC, you made our dream come true
