Very happy with the extensive repointing work provided by Paul. It gave our home a new lease on life. Pricing was reasonable and the quality of work exceptional. Paul communicated intentions and progress with us regularly so we knew what to expect and when, for the duration of the project. Thank you Paul

In remodelling of the front yard of our 1960’s vintage Canberra home, we required a pair of curved stone retaining walls of around 40 square metres area built in a manner that would be sympathetic to the existing stonework of our home. A new section of house stonework was also required to match its original stonework. Paul's photo gallery indicated he had completed similar work using a mix of Sydney Sandstone and Blue Granite. Paul was professional in giving us advice while scoping out the work and providing a quote. His bid was competitive. Paul was courteous and friendly while undertaking the stonework and we are very pleased with the result he has achieved. He takes pride and care in his work, and the new stonework was neatly laid with pointing matching the colour of the original stonework.

Paul recently constructed a set of stone stairs for us and did a wonderful job of blending them in with the old stone wall. Paul is also the model tradesperson - friendly, excellent communicator, turns up when he says he will, provided a detailed quote ( and did a couple of other things at no additional charge), and kept a clean and tidy work site - will use again!

Bricklaying costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do bricklayers typically charge?
Costs for bricklaying vary depending on the job—simple repairs are typically much less than building new walls that need footings or excavation. Many bricklayers charge a call-out fee plus an hourly labour rate, and after-hours or specialist heritage work is often charged at higher rates. This page shows live pricing to help you compare quotes.
Do bricklayers charge call-out fees?
Call-out fees are common for bricklayers, particularly for small or single-visit jobs. This fee is usually separate from labour and materials costs. It's worth asking each tradesperson whether a call-out or minimum charge applies to your job.
Do bricklayers need a licence in Australia?
Yes. Bricklayers must be licensed in every Australian state and territory; in NSW the relevant authority is Building Commission NSW (formerly NSW Fair Trading). You should ask to see a valid state contractor licence or registration and proof of public liability insurance before work begins.
Does Long Stride Stone Masonry have a verified ABN?
