Costs for balustrading work vary widely depending on the material chosen, the length and height of the balustrade, and how difficult the site is to access. Repairs are generally simpler than full replacements, while jobs that require engineered fixing, glass toughening or compliance certification are often more involved. This page shows live pricing to help you compare options for your specific job.

Many balustrading installers charge a call-out or minimum attendance fee to assess the job and take measurements. This fee is usually separate from labour, materials and any after‑hours rates, which may apply for urgent or out-of-hours work. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee applies when requesting quotes.

Registration or a contractor licence is often required when work affects structural elements, involves high-level glass or fall-protection, or when state thresholds for value or scope are met. Your installer should display a valid state building or contractor licence where the scope triggers apply, and be able to demonstrate compliance with the National Construction Code balustrade and barrier rules. Check with your state building regulator (for example, NSW Fair Trading or the Victorian Building Authority) if you're unsure about local thresholds.
