We had our second sun blind installed before Christmas, not quite a strait forward job, but not a problem for Damian and Nathan, can highly recommend these guys, another stellar outcome.

I contacted Shades for Life to ask for assistance with a motorised outdoor blind that had stopped working. Damien rang back and stepped me through a process of making sure the remote was working properly and then to check the blind motor was functioning properly or if it was faulty. As it turned out, the blind was still operational and is working as it always did. I said to Damien that I was willing to pay for his expertise, but he wouldn't hear of it. I am so impressed with the generosity of his time to help me. Thank you, Damien.

💕🎉 Recently used Shade For Life to enclose our alfresco area and absolutely LOVE the end result and attention to detail! Other companies who quoted said it was too difficult but Shade For Life provided a solution that looked better and worked better than anything else that was offered. These zipscreens are amazing! They can even detect obstacles like a chair or pot plant (or a child) so they don’t get scratched or do some damage. No other sales reps else even mentioned that this tech is possible! I can even command them with my google home. Other companies were just trying to sell cheap motors and something with clear PVC but they looked terrible when compared to zipscreens. The team at SFL taught me that mesh is better than PVC because it stops most of the rain and blocks the sun from 94-99.5% and you can still see through it. We chose the 95% in monument to match our home and it let’s us see through it better because it’s darker. So happy with our home. Makes such a difference, I just had to share! Thanks Damien, Leigh and team!! Posted on behalf of and as requested by my father.

We just had our retractable awning installed and we were a bit nervous as we had a lot of trouble with previous companies. We are thrilled with the quality and professionalism of Shade to Life in particular with Damian. He made the whole process from start to finish run so smoothly. He is very calm, patient and thorough which made the whole experience seamless. Don't even bother looking at other companies as they just don't compare!

Happy to highly recommend Damien and team at Shade for Life. We had a great experience dealing with Damien, Nathan and Leigh from initial contact and quotation, through to final selection and ultimate installation as well as follow up service. We wanted an all-weather system and Damien's pricing was compelling and the product quality and final installation were top notch. The shade itself is rated for winds around 100kph and the fabric is water proof and the motorised retractability makes it superbly adaptable. It provides all manner of cover, from shade on sunny summer days to protection from rain on overcast days when we might still want to use our outdoor bbq. We can have it partly or totally retracted to enjoy extra sunshine on winter days. Great for Melbourne's "4-seasons in one day" weather. Damien's friendly approach and attention to detail were second to none, and he, as well as the rest of the installation team, did a great job with the initial installation and some follow-up warranty work as well as further fine tuning to make sure it was all set up to meet our needs. My only surprise is that there are not many more positive (Google) reviews of this wonderful small family business!

Awning Installation costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do awning installers typically charge?
Costs vary widely depending on the job. Simple repairs or manual awning installations are typically much less than fixed, engineered replacements or large multi-awning jobs; motorisation and after-hours attendance usually increase the total. Quotes commonly combine a call-out fee, an hourly labour rate and materials, with structural or compliance work adding to the scope. Live pricing for your area and the specific job type is shown on this page.
Do awning installers charge call-out fees?
Many awning installers charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. After-hours or emergency attendance is often billed at a higher rate. It's worth confirming the call-out and after-hours policy when requesting quotes.
When do awning installers need a licence?
Installers will often need contractor or builder registration/licence for fixed or structural awnings and for work that requires documented engineering or wind-rating compliance. Motorisation or any work involving electrical alterations may also trigger additional permit or licensed-trade requirements. Requirements vary by state and local council, so check with your local building authority to confirm whether registration or a licensed contractor is required.
