Danny, Craig and Charlie did a great job of pruning a very big tree. They were very knowledgeable and very happy to answer all questions about the permit and the health of the tree. All the prunings were removed and the area left neat and tidy. I’d be happy to have Danny back for future jobs. Thanks for a job well done, cheerio Maggie

Can’t fault Arbay Tree Services. Easy to deal with from the start, good communication and they rocked up when they said they would. Really decent blokes who actually took the time to explain things and gave honest advice instead of trying to upsell. Job was done properly, no shortcuts, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and will definitely use them again.

Fantastic arborist. Danny and his team were fast, cost-effective, and very accountable throughout the job. They were respectful of our property and went above and beyond — even sharing landscaping ideas, bringing a digger to flatten a part of our land as we wanted, and relocating mulch exactly where we asked. Highly recommend!

Great job to all the boys. Took down a large tree in my yard, good pricing, good communication, no mess no hassle. Had to get a second session in once we realized how much underground concrete and bricks were buried under the trunk but the job was still done to a high standard. Would recommend. Cheers

Today I had a large tree removed from my garden by Arbay Tree Services, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results! Danny and his team—Greg and Charlie—arrived right on time and immediately got to work. I was genuinely impressed by their professionalism and efficiency; the whole operation was like clockwork—almost like watching a military team in action. The equipment they used was top-of-the-line, and it was clear they take safety and precision seriously. I was especially impressed with their helmets, which were equipped with microphones, allowing the crew to communicate seamlessly throughout the entire process. It was like watching a well-rehearsed performance, almost like Cirque du Soleil, as they skillfully worked their way through removing the tree, which was towering over the fence. The team was courteous, efficient, and very skilled, and the job was completed without any hassle or damage to my property. I couldn't be happier with the service and would highly recommend Bay Tree Services to anyone needing tree removal or care. Top-notch service all around!

We used arbay to remove a large tree and tidy up a nearby gum tree. They did a great job in an awkward area. Would definitely recommend

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
