As usual Steve did a great job removing 3 large trees for us. We’ve used Samford Tree Services many times before and have always been happy with the service provided.

Steve and his crew at Samford Tree Service were awesome! We initially got a quote from someone else and they were well above what we imagined it would cost that we nearly put off the tree lopping for a year. Called out Steve and his price was exactly what we hoped for. In preparation for storm season, we had a number of very tall trees to work on and the job was completed quickly and professionally. They took great care with our front yard and cleaned up so well afterwards. Hugely impressed with this business. Fully recommend.

Steve and his team are brilliant. Friendly. Full of character. Provide suggestions if you’re looking for it. Knowledgeable on the flora, what will become a pest and what will look sensational with a few more years of growth. Mindful of the neighbours. Thoughtful to the horses.

Arborist costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do arborists typically charge?
Arborist costs vary widely depending on the type and scale of work. Factors such as tree size and species, site access, whether removal and stump grinding are needed, required equipment and disposal all affect the total. Most quotes separate a call-out component from labour and materials, and after-hours or emergency jobs generally attract higher rates. The live pricing on this page shows current estimates for different job types.
Do arborists charge call-out fees?
Many arborists charge a call-out fee to attend and assess the job, which is usually separate from labour and materials. That fee typically covers travel and the initial site inspection, and smaller or remote jobs may be subject to a minimum charge. It's worth confirming whether a call-out fee is included in any quote you receive.
When do arborists need a licence?
Arborists often need registration or specific contractor credentials for higher-risk, large-scale or regulated tree work. Where the scope overlaps with regulated building or contractor work, providers should hold a valid state contractor or builder credential and comply with local council permit requirements for protected trees. For higher‑risk tasks, look for evidence of public liability insurance, documented work-at-heights controls and SWMS.
