I highly recommend Resurfacing Tasmania! Holger is very professional and easy to deal with. He did a quote based on photos of the claw foot bathtub, and when booked in he arrived on time and explained the process. He repainted the tub inside and out in situ, and he put up plastic sheets to protect the rest of the bathroom and ventilated outside. He worked really hard to get the the old paint, repairs and DIY mess out before working his magic and respraying, and he did extra coats to get it perfect. I'm really happy with the results and you can see from the photos how great it looks. Holger also removed the silicone from my old shower cubicle that was causing drainage problems, and re-siliconed in the correct places - he knows what he's doing. When I do some work in the kitchen I'll be calling Holger again. (He was also less than half the price of another company, who were difficult to deal and they wanted to take the bath away.)

Holger was very professional and friendly. He invited us up to his place to show us work he was doing and was very willing to come to the east coast to carry out the work we needed. His pricing was very reasonable and quoting again done very professionally. We were undecided what colour choices we needed, but Holger recommended the colour we eventually chose. Again proving he knew what he was doing - and it proved to be the perfect choice. On the day of the job- he was prompt and efficient. and set up and carried out the job in such an easy, stress free and mess free manner. We are super impressed and very very please with our new kitchen. Well it feels like a new kitchen, even though we didn't change a thing apart from having the benches sprayed. I would highly recommend Holger and Resurfacing Tasmania and would not hesitate to use his services again. Thank you.

We weren't sure what to expect with our benchtop resurfacing, but I did feel right from the start that we were in professional hands with Holger. Final result - outstanding - such a perfectionist! We are super happy with a 30 year old timber benchtop that now looks new and modern. Thanks Holger

We were torn between replacing our 90s wooden cupboard doors and resurfacing. In the end the ease (on our part!) of the resurfacing won out. Our cabinets honestly look so modern now in a crisp white with beautiful new handles (all installed as part of the service). Holger went beyond in so many ways and the finish is superb. He also gave lots of good advice along the way and was always great with communication. The care he took with with regards to the fumes and our kids was also appreciated, and also the fact he ensured we had a mostly usable kitchen throughout. I would highly recommend.

Painting costs & guides

Frequently asked questions

How much do painters typically charge?
Painting costs depend on the size of the job, the condition of existing surfaces, and whether the work is interior, exterior or both. Jobs requiring significant preparation such as sanding, filling or priming will generally cost more than a straightforward repaint over sound surfaces. Most painters quote per square metre or per room, with exterior work and multi-storey access typically attracting higher rates. This page shows live pricing for jobs in your area.
Do painters need a licence in Australia?
Yes. In most Australian states and territories, painters carrying out domestic work above a certain value must hold a trade-specific licence or registration. Licensing requirements and thresholds vary by jurisdiction — for example, NSW requires a Contractor Licence for painting work. A licensed painter should be able to provide their licence number on request, and you can verify it with your state's building authority.
How should I prepare my home before painters arrive?
Most painters will handle masking, drop sheets and surface preparation as part of the job, but clearing the area of furniture, wall hangings and fragile items beforehand helps the job run smoothly and may reduce your quote. For exterior work, ensure the painter has clear access to all walls and that garden beds or outdoor furniture are moved back. Discuss any specific concerns like lead paint, mould or moisture damage before work begins so the painter can plan accordingly.
Does Resurfacing Tasmania have a verified ABN?
Yes. Resurfacing Tasmania has completed ABN verification on SureQuote.
