Worst experience we have ever had in many years using trades in the building industry, building and renovating houses and commercial premises. Prestige quoted us on a Roof Restoration service that involved the removal and replacement of solar panels by a solar company, the installation and removal of a safety rail by a company that supplies that service, and the cleaning, preparation, and repainting of our roof. Prestige engaged a different company called Queensland Master Roofing to do the cleaning, preparation and painting work. Never told us that was going to be the case and even gave Steve, the owner of the company they used instead of their "roofing team" that they kept referring to in their communications, a Prestige shirt to wear and Prestige a-frame signs to put on the footpath when he was working on our roof. Talked to Steve about the poor quality of work performed by Prestige employees (believing wrongly that he was also a Prestige employee at that point in time) on the external painting that we also engaged Prestige to do after reading their website and the assurances it provided about the quality of their work. It was only then we realized that Steve was not a Prestige employee but a subcontractor as he said that the rust coming through the paintwork Prestige workers had applied shouldn't be appearing just 2 weeks after being painted, and we should talk to David. There are so many other things that Prestige did that don't even remotely live up to the assurances and guarantees that they make in their written quotes and on their very flashy website that we can't list them all here. We have never given a 1 star review of any business in our lives as we would rather make the business owner aware of problems we can see in their business that need to be addressed (after spending 35 years as business owners ourselves) which we did by email to Prestige after the work was finished. We received no response from the owner of Prestige. Reading their responses to any negative reviews they lay the blame on the client and refuse to admit that they are at fault in any way. The discussion between us and Brad who prepared the "detailed Quote" (that contained very little detail at all about what was discussed with him on-site) wasn't even relayed to the subcontractor painting the roof or to the two Prestige employees who were tasked with the external painting resulting in them turning up on-site asking us what work needed to be done. (Unbelievable but true) Why the hell would we want the same people back that stuffed it up the first time? Also when we asked the owner of Prestige if it was acceptable that Prestige quote to do work on our roof, and then engage a different Roofing company to perform the work not the "roofing team" with no disclosure to the client that that would be the case, and the subcontractor they used doesn’t even hold a QBCC license to paint anything, His response was "who says I can't." We have spoken to Steve the owner of Queensland Master Roofing and he told us he estimates that he has preformed possibly as many as 50 roofing jobs for Prestige where Prestige do the quote and he performs the work. He also told us how much he invoiced Prestige for the work on our roof. We should have got a cheaper quote from Queensland Master Roofing and used them instead of Prestige and saved approximately $4000. Prestige tells potential customers to be careful if accepting a cheaper quote as it may lead to the quality of the work being inferior. Maybe Prestige should practice what they preach? Since posting this review we have discovered the contractor Prestige used to paint our roof Steven St John the owner of Queensland Master Roofing only has a QBCC licence for roof tiling not for painting any roof let alone a Colorbond one like ours. So bad. Rust and peeling paint getting worse every day while we wait for the hopelessly broken QBCC to investigate our complaint. From the quotation and administration staff to the wonderful hands on Julien the service has been profession and polite. We were also having solar panels installed and the coordination between PHT and the Solar contractor, for panel footing installation prior to the roof restoration and paint, went smoothly. A special mention for Julien. His one man effort to replace damaged tiles and do the pointing and then the painting process was admirable. He is a very hard working, well organised and polite man.
