I initially discovered Mal and his team through Google, and based on their positive reviews and quotes, we felt confident hiring them. Mal assured us that the job would take two days, which was crucial since we had arranged for other trades and were planning to leave for a trip, during which a pet sitter would be staying at our house. We made it clear that timing was essential, and if the job would take longer than two days, we could wait until we returned. We were reassured multiple times by various team members that the work would be completed on schedule. However, when the work began, it wasn’t Mal and his team who showed up; he had outsourced the job to others. Two days passed with little to no communication. When we returned home on Friday, we found buckets of water used for mixing plaster left on our carpet, leaving it soaking wet. They had also used our storage buckets as rubbish bins, as well as our vacuum (which they had to replace) and ladders. To make matters worse, the job was far from complete. We reached out to Dylan, who, to his credit, was very helpful and understanding. We arranged a meeting for Saturday and emphasised that we needed the work completed before our trip. Dylan assured us it would be finished by Thursday. After a late start on Monday, we became concerned about meeting the deadline. We instructed Dylan to focus on completing the back rooms of the house first, planning to address the rest of the house after our trip. Dylan assured us the house would be finished by Wednesday, so we scheduled an electrician for Thursday. Unfortunately, there was no communication throughout the week about any delays or setbacks, and unsurprisingly, the job was not completed by Thursday. Upon our return, we reached out to Mal to schedule a meeting to discuss the completion of the work. We agreed on a time for Saturday, but just 10 minutes before he was due to arrive, Mal let us know he was running 1 to 1.5 hours late. Dylan turned up instead, and while we appreciated him taking time out of his Saturday to come to the site, he wasn’t the right person to address our concerns. He had worked on the job but wasn’t able to break down the quote or provide an accurate timeline. Moreover, he wasn’t the right person to discuss the defects, as he had done some of the faulty work himself. After texting Mal, he informed us he was unwell. While I understand that illnesses happen, a quick message to let us know would have been courteous and saved us both time. We could have easily rescheduled for Monday, which is exactly what happened anyway. When Mal finally visited, he acknowledged that the work wasn’t up to his standards, and we agreed on a plan to move forward. However, three weeks later, the job was still incomplete and not up to a satisfactory standard. After Mal’s third visit to fix the faulty work, my partner and I decided that the stress, poor communication, and bad workmanship were simply not worth it. We’ve made the decision to hire another company to rectify the work. I’ve attached photos showing the state of the job after Mal’s last visit to “fix it.” These defects are on new walls with new gyprock. If this is how the boss leaves a job site, it’s no surprise this has been our worst experience with a contractor. Along with a photo showing the plaster being mixed on carpet. I would not recommend this company to anyone. If you don’t want horrible communication and craftsmanship, do NOT use MB Plastering!

Excellent service and excellent work!!! Highly recommend to anyone that needs a proven and skilled Plasterer and associated trades. Very professional, very personal and very good communication all round. Our refurb job was very tricky and its only because of Malcolms experience was he and his team able to positively and creatively help us - on time, and to budget! Thank you!!!
